Is working out 3 times a week enough?

    ...for optimal muscle gain?

I currently workout 3x a week, mainly big compound lifts. Low reps to failure.

I donīt feel any soreness though the next day.

    Yes it's plenty.

If you're not sore you aren't lifting enough weight.

I think it depends how advanced you are. A newbie can lift 3 times a week and see good results but i know your gonna have to do more than 3 times a week when you get more advanced

I want to say yes...... only if your intensity is extremely high. Otherwise, your wasting your time. I think i remember Evan Centopani talking about this in a recent md video. In the off season he moves to 3 times a week using only compound movement.

Thatīs the thing though. I put on enough weight so that my eyeballs are about to pop out as I lift my last rep. But then right after the workout I feel like I could do the whole thing all over again without any probs.

Muscle soreness is not an indicator of a good workout. If you get it great, but if not then no big deal. Better to use weight progression as an indicator. If you are adding reps and increasing the weight when you do,that is a better indicator.
