its funny cause in most american movies its always the sport that seems to be the sport played by some character in the movie whether they be main or not, same thing with macs always being in movies instead of pcs.

because the most exposure we have gotten in the US was when espn would show world cup games and the players would throw the biggest bitch fit acts to get the fouls. they are actors not athletes (not really srs, but not really.. mind = blown?)

american football - helmets, vests, pads, lots of breaks - not pussy but defo not alpha (only americans think its alpha, the rest of the world just lols)
rugby - alpha sport, blood, broken bones, constant action.
football (soccer) not alpha but my favourtie sport to watch.

It's honestly difficult for me to comprehend how someone could even argue basketball to be a more physical sport. I mean you've got the elbows flying and screening but honestly, compared to running at full speed and throwing your shoulder and legs into someone, or slide tackling and taking someone to the ground. Its obviously not as physical as other sports...football,rugby, hockey...but basketball. Really? In one season of college level soccer, i tore 3 ligaments in my ankle and sublexed my rib (Rib bone ripped away from cartilage and sternum) and ive never broken a bone or had any significant injuries in my life until that year.

Besides this thread has been done to death...let it die before this somehow turns into a UK vs US thread

american football would be pretty awesome if it was pre-recorded and all the breaks were edited out. Difficult to watch that game live.

This. I'm Canadian and I love soccer actually, but I think it really is a pussy sport. They constantly throw themselves to the ground pretending to be hurt crying like babies. That's my main beef with it really, grown men falling like flies to the slightest brush.

Wearing helmets and shoulder pads allows for much more violent and forceful collisions.

Exactly, constant "acting" at the professional level irritates me. It can be interesting to watch and I actually grew up on it, but compared to other sports like hockey or football...

i'm a soccer fan.

compared to football, basketball, hockey. which uses most of your limbs. soccer is limited to your feet/legs.

many americans see this as effeminate.

then many soccer players are actors the way they throw themselves on the field and fake injuries.

it happens in the sports enjoyed by the u.s.(posted above) but nowhere near the degree it happens in soccer.
