Dinosaurs or their bones are one of the main things used to prove that books such as the bible are indeed just a made up story.

There is proof, dinosaur fossils blah blah, that dinosaurs existed. im a darwinist

whoo. There's a lot to unpack in all of this, and I don't even know where to start. Instead I'll just sum up.

    -Dinosaurs did Exist
-Religions are no joke, but very few hold any sand whatsoever.

I don't understand why people go out of their ways to try and disprove religion or post things like this (no offense OP). I mean religious people (in my experience it could be diff on a forum like this) really don't take the same route to prove their beliefs.

Either way just bc you believe one thing does not make you any better or worse of a person. And I am not about to start criticizing one persons beliefs for no reason. Religion has done amazing things for people, and perhaps that is really the whole point of it.

I believe in the Bible. Call me dumb if you want, doesn't bother me at all (until you can explain how life began in the first place). The more I've studied, the more I see life as a miracle.

    Oh really?

Look at the theocratic states of today. You will see how much religion has done good to people (Islam).

People put in effort to argue against religion because it has a strong influence on politics and other parts of peoples private lives.

Religion also gets in the way of things like stem cell research.

It also teaches misinformation such as creation myth. I don't think sending kids off to college with a deluded world-view is good in my opinion.

Let us throw out religion, and learn science.

We don't need religion anymore, it is 2010.

edit: Also, I think during one point in ancient history, humanity was advancing very rapidly in technology, but I think it was Islam which stopped all that. I am pissed that I can not remember.... but people were having it good until religion came a long with their orgnaized, dogmatic, systematic, and controlling belief systems.

The multi-verse theory is more plausible than the theory of the bible.

The idea of extra-terrestrials visiting planet Earth is more plausible than the theory of the bible.

If time is just a figment of our imagination, thus it does not exist. Then there was no beginning nor a creator.

If I wanted to make an argument out of it I would have. I really do not see why some people (like you) are so hostile towards religion. If you're so pissed at why the world is the way it is...sitting here bitching about it on an online forum isn't going to change a damn thing.

My Dad says half-life (radioactive decay?) is wrong. Dinosaur fossils exist because God built this world from other worlds. The layers of the earth and dinosaur fossils all got put perfectly into place. /facepalm Also, that the 12 tribes of Israel are in the center of the earth and will come out from the north when Jesus returns. Yes, its very weird to hear him talk about religion.

People are living in the center of the earth? Thats so retarded. I cant talk sense to him at all. He told me if I didnt go back to church, I was going to hell. Mmkay.

well to say " If I wanted to..." is too easy isn't it. Why don't you make an argument first, and then start talking.

I am not hostile towards religion, I am just being clear, and critical. The thing about religion is, you can not say anything bad about it. You can critique someones political views, or fashion, or music, but when it comes to religion, people get all sensitive.

The multi-verse theory is more plausible than the theory of the bible.

The idea of extra-terrestrials visiting planet Earth is more plausible than the theory of the bible.

Maybe they didn't have archeologists back then.

The Bible also doesn't mention ticks, polar bears, dolphins, starfish, 3 toed sloths, or Mars.

Which is why they have no right to explain the how the world around us works. They make scientific claims without using the scientific method.

i've had to research this for a debate class. i few interesting facts i found were:

-in the book of Job, he describes and animal he calls Behemoth. he says its the biggest of all the creatures with a tail like a cedar tree. some people say its an elephant but they hardly have a big tail. could it be a brontosaurus?

-dino bones are rarely carbon dated. there were some allosaurus bones carbon dated in the early 90's and it came back to be 16,000 and 9,000 years old. not millions. people argue that there was less carbon in the atmosphere back then so it would put them closer to 6,000 years old. the time of the old testament. living animals have been carbon dated to be thousands of years old.

not saying i believe that dinos were around with people but interesting facts none the less.

Why would they need them to talk about them? I mean the earth was created 6000 yeas ago, dinosaurs would have been alive back then.

Because dinosaurs are irrelevant to the narrative of most religions?

Where in the Bible should dinosaurs be mentioned? While I admit it'd be a more interesting read if there was a chapter on the T-Rex it wouldn't really fit.

That being said: While I think dinosaurs are awesome I don't think there's even 100% agreement today on what they look like (e.g., skin color) or sound like or their habits or behaviors or intelligence, etc. and that's with modern science backing our research. All we really have are incomplete fossils and carbon-dating. I'm not surprised that people would doubt or be unaware of their existence 50 years ago, much less 2000 years ago.

    Edit:

I didn't make an argument first and then start talking, because I didn't want to argue...Does reading comprehension own you?

You're saying religion holds back the world...You do realize that many of the worlds greatest scientist and thinkers also believed in God, followed a belief system, or believed in a higher power.

Religion isn't the real problem. Two people can believe in two different gods and be the best of friends. So what is the real problem? Don't just rationalize and blanket everything with an easy washed out excuse.

But to be honest with you I am not going to sit here and argue an endless and pointless debate.

B/c its not that important to him to attempt to argue with someone over the internet. Im not religious at all, but I do find it sad that most atheist just go right at anyone who is religious. If you are religious, good for you thats your life. If you dont, the same applies. Who the fuk cares if some people goto Church on Sunday and praise who they believe is the creator? It doesnt hurt anything or anybody, and we all have our opinions. Ive never met a christian that was so hostile about religious debates as the average atheist is.

    JOB 40:15

    15 “Look at the behemoth,i

which I made along with you

and which feeds on grass like an ox.

16 What strength he has in his loins,

what power in the muscles of his belly!

    17 His tailj sways like a cedar;

the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.

18 His bones are tubes of bronze,

his limbs like rods of iron.

19 He ranks first among the works of God,

yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.
