    How many times should I bench 225 lbs to be able to bench 315 lbs once?

    Just curious, I am putting up 7 reps on 225 lbs now. How far am I from benching 315?

    Probably a long ways. For a 200 lb'r or less there is a big difference between pushing up 225 for reps and hitting 315. At least for me it has been.

    It depends on your muscle fiber type composition, but in general I would say about 12 should do it

    *edit - sorry, I thought you were asking how many reps you would have to be able to put up of 225 to be able to hit 315

    My buddy can get 225 23 times and he can get 395 1rm

    i was in the same boat man, been stuck with getting up 225 3-4 times for about 6-7 months
    What i did recently (about a month ago)
    1. i implemented dumbell workouts ( so on monday i work my chest only with dumbells then on friday i only do barbell benches)

    2. I do way more inclined/declined bench then flat one

    3. Hit my triceps more (close grip bench press is relly good for this)

    4. Try not doing flat bench press for about 2 weeks (just do inclines/declines)

    Your bench will go up in no time, just have to be consistent and stay on good diet
