    Weight Gainers without Artificial Sweeteners

I've looked online, as well as going to many health food stores. And every weight gainer I see has either Crystalline Fructose (contains arsenic), Sucralose (trade name Splenda) or Aspartame which are all artificial sweeteners that are definitely not good for you at all.

Has anyone been able to find any decent weight gaining supplements that don't contain these ingredients? I was looking at MAMMOTH and MUSCLE JUICE 2544 which are made by interACTIVE and Ultimate Nutrition, and they both contain crystalline fructose.

As the name suggests, supplements are meant to "supplement" your current diet plan. I'm not relying solely on a weight gainer to give me an extra intake of calories or boost my mass, I'm just curious if anyone out there has been noticing the same trends as I am with most of the weight gainers out there.

I think you need to re-look into fructose... you seem to not understand what it is.

But you could always buy Whey Protein Isolate from NOW (no flavoring at all) and then buy some Maltodextrin (the main caloric ingredient in most weight gainers) and then flavor it however you'd like. Such as wiith cocoa and sugar, strawberry syrup, vanilla syrup, whatever.

Fructose has to be directly digested by the liver. That's what I'm worried about. And over time it can add problems and fatty tissues around the liver. I know it assists the body in storing fat but why not just use regular sucrose (table sugar) instead of using crystalline fructose that has metallic minerals in it?

If you don't intend to use such weight gainers (with fructose) for long term (i.e. 6 months and more), I don't think there is any real problems.

Why do you say Sucralose is not good for you?

When I was reading up a while back there were just cautions about it, as sucralose itself contains chlorine.

Come on man. You can find warnings about anything on the Internet.

Have you actually read about the chlorine in sucralose to understand it at all? Or did you just write it off because you read a few things a while back and got scared cause of the word chlorine?

And have you looked into Stevia at all?

I just generally avoid aspartame and sucralose. I know that they're similar, which is in diet sodas and all the like. And I know that's not overly that great for you.

The whey protein isolate I'm taking now has stevia in it.

Sucralose and aspartame are not really alike at all. Both are artificial sweeteners, but that's where the similarities end. Sucralose seems to be extremely safe. There will always be nay-sayers about everything.

But if you want to avoid sucralose regardless then just add maltodextrin to your current protein shake. That's all most gainers do anyhow.
