Steel Cut Oat COOKED Nutritional Info.

Im looking for the nutritional info on COOKED steel cut oats. Everywhere I look is information on dry steel cut oats nutritional facts, which doesnt help me. You can adjust the size of the amount of cooked oats simply by making them more watery making them more creamy.

Where is a site that would list how many calories, protein, carbohyrdrates and sodium content of 1 Cup COOKED steel cut oats? Thanks!

How does cooking them in water change the macronutrients?

it doesnt. But 1/4 cup dry steel cut oats produce several cups of cooked steel cut oats.

You cant find that because it depends how much water you add! lol

some people like their oatmeal thick, some like it runny... the macronutrients for 1 cup cooked oatmeal would depend on how much water you added. Best is to figure nutrition facts off of the dry, because otherwise you will be confusing yourself with things like how much water evaporated, etc.

Dude... lol, you are kinda weird. It doesn't matter how much water you put in, that is up to you. Just take the calories from a 1/4 serving and add whatever amount of water and you still have the calories of the 1/4 cup serving... makes common sense.

I think what he means is that after cooking. Say you added 100ml water to 1/4 cup oats vs adding 200ml water. The 200ml water batch will end up weighing more cooked but having the same calories as the 100ml batch.

Thus, it makes 100x more sense to weigh dry.

Wink I was wondering the same thing but...

I just checked - I had cooked 1 cup of steel cut oats (150 cals) and its now about 2 cups worth (after water absorption).

So I'm figuring about 75 cals for 1/4 cup cooked steel cut oats.

1/4 cup of dry steel cut oats should be cooked in somerset between 3/4 - 1 cup. It will yield about 1 cup of cooked oats.

By the way you can change how much you yield based upon how much water you use. If the oats a fully saturated they will have greater volume than if they are not.
