Hey there, I was wondering if I should have a protein shake on rest days and if my total calorie intake should differ from training days.
I'm looking to bulk up, currently 170lbs at 6"0'.
Thanks for the help,

WTF? There is no reason to drink a protein shake on a non work out day other than to meet his demand for protein that day if he can't eat actual food for one reason or another. The average demand isn't even that high, so there really isn't any need to unless you have a very busy day where you can't really eat.

****ing internet lag and my post didn't go through... time to try to rewrite...
You should always have a calorie surplus, but you should also be eating a little bit more than your normal surplus on workout days because you need to account for the calories you burn in the gym. And you do not have to drink a protein shake at any time. It's a supplement. However if you feel like you need more calories or proteins in your diet on certain days then by all means, take the protein shake. How much grass could an ass to grass squater squat if an ass to grass squater could squat grass?

protein shakes are calories just like anything else, so if you cant get enough calories in from solid food for whatever reason and you have the money to spend on the shakes, go for it...watch that your not taking in to much protein though.
