Exclamation Should I take protein shakes on rest days?

Hey there, I was wondering if I should have a protein shake on rest days and if my total calorie intake should differ from training days.

I'm looking to bulk up, currently 170lbs at 6"0'.

    Thanks for the help,
    LJSky

Doesn't matter if it saves you the time of not having to cook chicken or something have the shake i would, and i'd keep the calories in the same range every day.

yes, you should at least take two, one in the morning, one before bed. You don't really need a pre or post workout shake but you can take them anyway if you want to. As far as calorie intake just make sure you EAT A LOT

WTF? There is no reason to drink a protein shake on a non work out day other than to meet his demand for protein that day if he can't eat actual food for one reason or another. The average demand isn't even that high, so there really isn't any need to unless you have a very busy day where you can't really eat.

total calories can be a bit less depending on if ur planning to do cardio that day or not. Everything should basically be the same as training day cuz ur muscles r getting repaired and growing.

****ing internet lag and my post didn't go through... time to try to rewrite...

You should always have a calorie surplus, but you should also be eating a little bit more than your normal surplus on workout days because you need to account for the calories you burn in the gym. And you do not have to drink a protein shake at any time. It's a supplement. However if you feel like you need more calories or proteins in your diet on certain days then by all means, take the protein shake.

Anyways gold adapter, nothing is stupid, it's not as if I was asking for the weather on a bodybuilding forum; you were once where I was, so be gentle to the new guy !

...How's the weather anyways down in Cayman Islands?

PS: Back to seriousness, do I need 3K cals/day to bulk?

protein shakes are calories just like anything else, so if you cant get enough calories in from solid food for whatever reason and you have the money to spend on the shakes, go for it...watch that your not taking in to much protein though.
