Buying bulk: peanut butter, bean dip, hummus

anyone bought any peanut butter/bean dip/hummus in bulk from any stores?

what are your thoughts on using these foods as cheap non-meat protein sources along with egg and whey protein?

I wouldnt really plan on using them as a part of a diet to get protein with. Yes they have protein in them but not very much compared to the calories in them. Just my 2 cents

none are going to get you nearly as much protein per $ as whey, chicken or tuna
Hummus and bean dip would actually be quite more expensive
PB is good for cheap calorie sand healthy fat
120 calories of chicken breast has the same amount of protein as 500 calories of hummus

its a bulk food i need the calories

ya the bean dip/hummus was just a thought, maybe if i could buy in bulk it would be cheap enough. i guess no one has tried it before

peanut butter/whey/eggs is what i use to bulk right now

i'm a vegetarian so tuna/chicken is out of the question for me

cottage cheese, any low fat cheese and regular beans would be higher in protein
For calories, PB, hummus are fine

i think buying tons of beans and heating them up with melted cheese and eating with tortilla chips would be an amazing bulk food and very easy to prepare.

I think you would get bored quickly eating snack foods & whey shakes all day. Try some variety.

i need the fat, i have a tough time hitting my macros as it is. i'm busy at my job and i hate the bloated feeling/food coma of eating 2000 calories after work. was thinking as a quick snack i can eat on the go.

I'd say peanut butter and hummus would be a great way to hit fats and increase daily calories, but really for protein the classics chicken, fish, beef, cottage cheese, whey protein, eggs etc are so popular around here for a reason.

You could also get cheap calories in my upping carbs - pasta/ oats and things like that can be very cheap...it depends on how many calories you're aiming for, but hummus and peanut butter could be expensive as other posted have suggested. You could also eat nuts for fats/ calories.
