This competition might not be serious to some more experienced lifters but I'm committed, and I'm in it 110%. Every day when I leave the gym over the next 16 weeks I'm going to ask myself "Was it enough" and the answer will be: yes.
Starting Benchmarks:
BODY WEIGHT: 160 BODY FAT: 14%
MEASUREMENTS:
Waist: 32.5
Bicep: 13'' 3/4
WORKING MAXES:
Bench: 125x5
Squat: 135x6
Military: 90x7
I'll be updating the numbers weekly, good luck to everyone.
Might seem like a lot of fat to some but I don't really strictly partition macros except to meet protein. Most of the fat comes from whole milk and I refuse to drink that skim crap.
Week 1 Fit Day Macros:
Nailed my average cals for the week, protein was a little lower than I'd like but strength in the gym was fantastic and really the bottom line. The contest started right in the middle of my split so I'm not updating working maxes until next week.
Yeah thats right, I put 50 pounds on my squat, 10 on the bench. My last deadlift before I injured my back a month ago was like 85 pounds ... put on a solid 10 lbs on the military which is damn good because that's probably my most practiced movement. Now if I can get my ****ing calories to where they should be ya'll are ****in DEAD.
The squat and rack are mostly do to form improvement and confidence, but a month ago it did not feel like this. I could swear to you that 135 pound squats felt as heavy as **** and I could not do more than 8 reps at that weight with good form. I'm tremendously proud of these results.
Sadly it's time for a rest week to let by body recover. My shoulders we giving me some painful warnings today while trying to do GM's. And my muscles in general are still sore from workouts I did 3-4 days ago, that's a good sign I'm ready for a total break.
My bulk is coming to an end, and it's been an awesome one. I learned a lot about how to eat to perform at your bodies peak. I dispelled for myself a ton of nutrition myths and really got in tune with my bodies eating needs.
After tomorrow the time for sacrifice begins! I can't wait to start shedding all that excess fat and see the results of my hard work revealed. I sorta wish I could continue bulking for another month or so, but I'm at the upper limit of where I want to be weight wise and I do not want to piss away my hard work by cutting too fast.
So the slow race for the finish line begins ...
