    treatment for deep thigh bruise

for all the football guys who have been through this, I need some suggestions. I play on a women's semi pro tackle football team and yesterday during practice took a pretty hard helmet shot to the thigh (bitch got me right between the thigh pad and knee pad on my left side). I can tell I've got a pretty deep thigh bruise and it hurts like hell. Other than RICE how else can I get this thing to heal faster? Our season starts in less than 4 weeks and I'm going to need that leg.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

There's not much you can do. My last hit in thigh was pretty bad, I was off for two weeks.
    Just be patient.

The same thing happened to me except it was a knee to the same area. Other than R.I.C.E I found hold a static stretch through the pain for about 1 min a couple times an hour really help.

Same thing happened to me as the guy above, I got kneed in the thigh. It was pretty bad it took awhile to heal and on top of it I hurt my knee and had to get surgery last month. You can't really do much besides RICE, just have to let it heal

If it's been a couple of days now you can start rotating ice/heat. Ice will keep any swelling down while the heat will draw blood to the area and bring in fresh nutrients/cells and promote healing.

Btw icey hot doesn't really do anything. It just tricks the nerve into feeling the sensation of hot or cold, without actually heating or cooling the area.
