changed my macros around in my diet to around 40/40/20 and getting alot of good nutrient dense foods now...hopefully this is the change that I needed...this week has been meh as far as the diet goes...my workouts however has seen alot of improvement which I am happy about.
Got 2 more workouts for the week and so far have burned 2338 calories just in my workouts. The strapped heart rate watches really do help and add that extra step when it comes to zeroing in on your diet.Last edited by NorthTexasBB; 05-14-2010 at 08:48 AM.

Checking in today. I've been sick for a whole week. Bad sinus infection and possibly the flu. I haven't been strong enough to work out, but I finally forced myself to get on the treadmill and lifted weights last night. I'm hoping to gain strenght over the next few days as I'm finally pulling out of it. I feel like I've put myself back at least two weeks.
What's the worst that can happen?

Hello OBFers
I haven't updated all week. Things are going pretty slow on my end over the last 2 weeks. Last week i didn't lose any weight and this week i'm up a pound. I added cardio 3 weeks ago and it's like it's having the opposite effect. Not sure what the heck is going on but i'm going to change my w/o program next week to something a little more intense.
I'm going to take some measurements and hopefully this will tell me something. i know i look more vascular in the arms this week, which helps.
I should note that i started eating this protein bar daily that has sugar alcohols in it, which has played some havoc with my system. From my research, these sugar alcohols will hold water as well. These protein bars are freaken good though.
I'm not straying from the diet, other than the protein bars (one a day, 200cal) and i've been hitting the weights 4 days a week and cardio 5 days. Soooo, have i hit a plateau? Am i over training (unlikely)? I don't know. I'll change up my routine at the gym and see if it helps. I'm also going to drop some of the cardio and replace it with HIIT 3 times a week.
This has been my only post this week so i think this stall has my motivation down a bit..

haha....thanks beefy. I was stressing pretty bad this week but i've had to change my attitude or i would've given up or gone nuts. I'm not freaking like i was but my motivation isn't what it was either. I know i'm in great shape, i've got more muscle mass than i've ever had, or even thought i could have, i'm strong and i just need to be more patient. $hit happens, it's what you do when it happens that makes a positive outcome.
...and thanks MsT. You always put a smile on my face..

Ok so I've been back to my normal routine pre-tri training for the past 2 weeks:
*Back/Bis
*Legs/Shoulders
*Chest/Tris
*Rest Day
*Repeat (with Abs,Calves, & Lower Back exercises done each training day. Abs/Calves I alternate Heavy-Low Rep w/ Light-High Rep, and the lower back exercises done daily are simply:
*parachutes on the floor
*reverse hyper extensions on a ball w/ no added weight
[color=red]The reason for the lower back exercises done daily is because I work my abdominal muscles daily. And a strong core with a weak lower back = Disaster. And that disaster may come in the form of an injury during a weighted back or leg exercise or something as simple as "throwing your back out" when bending over to pick up a pencil...which is what happened to a dear friend of mine. She's built like a rock and has abs that look like they were carved from stone, but she never worked it's mate, aka lower back, and so they couldn't balance each other out.[/red]
^^And since I am no sports physiologist or guru (work in progress through ), all of the above my have nothing to due with each other. But it makes sense to me, and really it can't hurt me but only help, so why not.
Real Updates, or at least the ones that count
1. My lifts are already back (yay muscle memory!!)
2. I took update pics just so I could compare to the start of contest.....HARDLY ANY CHANGE!!!! Grr. Since my weight is down almost 10lbs from the start, I'm betting I lost mucho muscle mass during those couple months (hardcore) of tri training...I also think I over-estimated caloric measurements. Since I lost so much, I wonder if I wasn't taking in enough and therefore lost too fast? Maybe not enough proteinz..hmm. Time to reevaluate.
.................But not sure how much I'll be able to accomplish in ~2weeks.http://twitter.com/elkobrien
