    T-BAR Rows

At my school gym there is no good attachments (including no good low row attachment) that can be used as handles for T-BAR rows. Instead, I have to grab the actual bar to do rows. Is this safe or should I look into buying a low row attachment or T-BAR row handle? If so, where can I find one?

Honestly, how dangerous do you think it actually is, to interlock your fingers around a barbell?

Honestly, how hard is it to give me a straight answer without acting like an *******?

I'm just trying to make sure I get the most out of the exercise. I haven't done these before.

If you spent any time around here, you would know it is pretty hard for me.
I'm just trying to make sure I get the most out of the exercise. I haven't done these before.
Do them. If you like the contraction you get, then stick with it. If you feel you'd prefer a different grip (perhaps a v-grip attachment) then go buy one. It is the same exercise, just with different hand positioning. It isn't magically going to deactivate your muscles, causing you to lose months of progress, because you attempted it without a proper handle attachment.

Common sense goes a loooonnnnnnnggggggg ways in this sport.

It doesn't hurt asking a question, simply to make sure I'm correct. I appreciate the response though.

You're fine with a barbell. If you don't like how it feels then buy yourself what you need to use.

You could either get a v-handle (parallel grip) attachment, OR row the bar by grabbing it with one hand each time - like a DB row. I'd opt for purchasing the handle.

I've managed to use a 10 or 25lb plate as a handle; the plates at the gym obviously had holes. Hard to explain, but it worked well.

You won't be able to row decent weight using a towel. Your grip will fail before you exhaust your back. It would be a great workout for the forearms using a towel, but OP, I would invest in a V-Handle.

It's safe, but always bothered me that by default, the lower hand will always have a more difficult pull, all things being equal, due to leverage disadvantage, and your body won't always "feel" the difference, and you can't tell what's pulling harder or being favored. The only way to work around that is by alternating hands upper/lower from set to set.

Another thing about grabbing by the bar itself is that the ROM is significantly different and uses your arms differently than a wider grip, in addition to the middle back and posterior delt ROM's being different.
