i started keto on monday and have lost 15 lbs in 5 days this doesnt seem right even for glycogen and water loss, still eating 3k a day.. 500 under maint. drinking approx 1 gal a day.. ideas?

Typically when you go off of carbs your proteins will undergo deamination. This results in the backbone of the amino acid being used by the body as glucose to feed the brain, since you don't have carbs to serve that function anymore (eventually your fats will be used as ketone bodies to serve this function, which is the whole point of the keto diet). Then, the amino acids are excreted via your urine. Due to the size of the amino acid molecules you require a lot more water to piss them out. This results in a very rapid loss of water weight whenever switching to a low carb diet, which is how they became so popular.
Something like that anyway...
