What are the nutritional differences between honey and sugar? Is one better for you than the other, or are they both garbage? What is an acceptable level of either to use/consume daily?
Thanks

Honey actually has more calories by weight than table sugar does, but it is sweeter. Honey also has some unique medical properties that aren't fully understood but are often embraced in alternative medicine. Manuka Honey in particular is prescribed quite often--just google it. However, the Manuka honey is ridiculously expensive. In the end, they are both comprised of glucose and fructose, and are digested similarly. Honey does have a lower GI, but as we all know, GI can be quite useless in real life. I like the taste of honey better with a lot of stuff personally, and it definitely helps if you've got a sore throat.

Micronutritional density?
idk, not a scientist, but honey has like 200 different things in it, enzymes, minerals etc.
I would bet my life that a real raw unheated honey is better than something bleached and processed made in a lab by man. Same as I would bet my left ball with confidence that chicken breast is better than protein powder, that Olive Oil or avocado has better quality fat than that of Muscle Milk despite the manufacturer's claim that MM is a great source of fat, and that banana is better than maltodextrin.Last edited by kusok; 01-01-2011 at 07:45 AM.
