The question is, do I consume the same amount of protein everyday, whether I work out or not?

Yes. You should get the same amount of protein and calories, but maybe shift your carbohydrate intake to accommodate your activity level. If you are more sedentary on a particular day, consider dialing back your carbs.

If you are supplementing with protein shakes, then yes, take the same amount, but whole food is preferable.

Take a protein shake any time you can't get enough protein during the day or you can't get in a meal. I use protein as a supplement to make sure I get all my protein every day especially during times when I can't get an actual meal for whatever reason.

I use my protein shakes when I need to meet my daily protein requirments and always after my workouts. So if I have an off day from the gym and I have only consumed 200 grams of protein for the day and my goal is 225 then I will take a scoop of my NF-PRO protein to meet my goal of around 225.

So I think you should use protein when needed to assist you in meeting your protein requirment goals reguardless of whether you are lifting or not on that day.

I agree with Rick...You can most definitely use protein shakes everyday training or not. I usually do 4 solid meals and 2 shakes a day. Sometimes an extra one if I am doing a weightgainer or if I am up late.
