I have always done chest and tris together, I was thinking of doing chest and back together to see how I like it. I just figured since i'm hitting tris when I do chest I should finish up my tri routine in that workout. What do you guys prefer when you train?

Its better in my oppinion atleast to split biceps and triceps up from your chest and back workouts.
Such as
chest/biceps
legs
shoulders and abbs
back/triceps
see that way you hit your tris and bi's 2 times a week! and they dont have the risk of being over trained as much.
Or in your case you could do this
Chest/back
shoulders/abbs
legs
triceps/biceps.
good luck manftw

as long as you can manage to give both a decent pounding
reason why chest/back works is because most superset it, so both groups fail at the same time instead of one failing (and gains are less because antagonist is not failed) and then the other being lifted (recruited more now that the antagonist is failed)
I do Chest/Tris just because I like the way it works out for exercises, however periodization with chest/back does occur

Whoever is saying chest and back together is fun cannot possibly be training them very hard. Back should be done alone as its a very large group of muscles that take a lot of effort to propperly stimulate. If you're the type of person who goes to the gym to get 'toned' or simply for leisure, then giving 60/70% will do you and chest and back will be ok. Otherwise one or both of them will suffer if trained together.
Personally i like chest bis and tris with shoulders. Triceps are usually a little bit weak after chest and i dont feel i like can hit them hard enough. I like them to be totally fresh.Last edited by lancs_hotpot; 03-01-2010 at 09:04 AM.

Just my opinion on the subject. Ill take your word for your success but as a general rule i believe back and chest should be trained seperate. Dont bring Arny into this either he was not only a pro but one of the best ever. He may have loved training back and chest together but he also did a lot of other things that wouldnt work for the vast majority of people.
