I might have an hour to spare on the mountain tomorrow, I'll email ya.
gym sessions won't really kick in for me until next week. trying to make a 5am one happen tomorrow. ugh. just about the only time I have for it this week. could possibly do drinks tomorrow night in town of Jackson if you're at Blue Lion. that is most likely easier chance to meet up if it doesn't happen on the mountain

As if .... I'm not very good at anything, especially skiing, but I am enthusiastic!
I would be a professional traveller if I could ... unfortunately I still have to work
It's a front for all the travelling .
Actually, different types of docs all have similar profiles, so anesthesiologists tend to be into sports and lifestyle; surgeons tend to be into themselves and money; psychiatrists tend to be totally screwed up (really!) and obstetricins are into ... well .... you know
The guys I'm skiing with are all pretty cool
Thanks Nadeem
And I had bags of ice on my knees in the bar and then in the restaurant. When they had started to melt I handed the waitress the plastic bags with the half melted ice and she looked at me as though there was someone's head in there She warmed up later as we applied our Aussie (and Seattle) charm
I'd definitely add 'ice' to ibuprofen and alcohol!
Thanks Tim .. that would be cool if it happens. 5am start in the gym ... ugh ... but I know what you mean: if you want it to happen you have to prioritise it. I have to lift early at home. I'm sure you'll have a killer TT session to make up for lost time though. It sounds like the break in Japan was just long enough to let the work pile up so that you'll be squeezing 2 weeks work into one. Hopefully catch up tomorrowLast edited by fittofattofit; 02-26-2013 at 11:14 PM.

Thanks Alex .... it's not always great (teenage daughters give me hell) .... but I've been very lucky!
Thanks Halfway .... in theory I'm here for a conference but I'm travelling with some good friends, so it is downtime
........my wife will make sure that I pay with blood at the other end though

Day 5 skiing --- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Another great day with good weather and great ski conditions
Today's stats:
Vertical distance = 6,545metres
Distance = 36.1km/20.5 miles
Today's runs : the pinks are the runs we took
This seemed to miss a lot of runs today, but we had a great day skiing off some of the higher tracks and running through some of the chutes
Some pics:
From the Tram:

And high up (I'm in the red)
We had a great day skiing today and followed it up with some cool beer and a great meal!
If anyone gets to Jackson, you've got to have the 2x4D IPA at Thai Me Up ..... 10% alcohol and killer flavour. I could have had plenty more of those but I had to go out for dinner. Elk sashimi and elk steaks to follow
Great evening and thanks Tim for suggesting Thai me up .... we'll be back for a few more of those 2x4D IPAs

Sounds like a great trip. Ive never skied or snowboarded before, your pictures make me want to try out one of them next winter.
Scale is going up crazy fast in the past week and I think it's creatine water retention kicking in!
Hit 80x5/80x3 on DB bench today.Last edited by JRemix; 02-28-2013 at 06:14 PM.

Awesome stuff!
Great skiing, great food, great company, and great "refreshments".
Good to see you're having a great time.
I assume when you speak to the wife you downplay the fun you're having.
And let's hope your wife doesn't check in on this log.Architect, Marine Biologist, Importer-Exporter, Latex Manufacturing.

Food sounds awesome. I'm sure the skiing is burning tons of calories. Elk steak? When I went to Jackson hole for a night a couple summers ago there was this super expensive restaurant with Elk steaks I never went (on that poor college income). Let me know if I missed out!

You've got to try it sometime -- you guys in the US and Canada have so many opportunities to ski in small and large resorts that are often easy day-trips away!
Good work on the bench
Thanks Tom!
I've been eating and drinking way too much, but I've been skiing loads as well so hopefully I've kept the cals in balance so I won't be too fat by the time I get back home
And don't worry --- the reception from my wife was very frosty today .... the demon child has been creating havoc while I've been away. I will be paying penance at home for the rest of the year
Thanks Nadeem. On most days I'm absolutely wiped at the end of the day skiing --- we tend to be actually skiing for 6 hours every day
Elk is good ..... tender and strong flavoured. I've eaten plenty of bison and beef here as well. I'm a meat man so Wyoming is food heaven
Great Musid .... I don't know about not so 'daring'. Sledding was pretty scary the only time I did it.
Where do you go and do you have to walk up the hill or do you have lifts? (I hate walking up hill in the snow)
I've never skied Ruapehu before but it's only 4 or 5 hours drive from Auckland.
It sounds like something you'll have to do now Josef!
You as well Ryou .... I'd imagine you as a snow-boarder (I picture you surfing on a long board off Hawaii)
I had two pints of that 2x4 and I was already spinning! Throw in some red wines and liquor and I had a nasty hangover that day!
Van is a great city ..... I love the way the snow covered mountains tower over the north side of the harbour. I skied two weeks in Whistler and spent a week at a conference in Van a few years ago. I genuinely thought 'I could live here'!
Tahoe is on my list! (they have a good conference there)
I'm looking forward to getting back to the regular programming as well Next gym session will be one week from today!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Friday 1st March
Day 7 Skiing, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Tim (NWSkier) took myself and one of my friends for a couple of back country runs on Friday morning. They were great runs with fantastic terrain and snow and we really appreciated Tim giving us his time (especially because there were long delays with the tram and he'd been flat out with work all week)
Each run was 4000 feet vertical
We did a few more runs in the afternoon, but by the end of 7 days solid skiing I was ready for a day of rest
Sunday 3rd March
Day 8 Skiing, Vail, Colorado
We travelled from Jackson to Vail on Saturday and hit the snow Sunday
Vertical 6,351 metres/20,836 feet
Distance 43km/26.7 miles
Monday 4th March
Day 9 Skiing, Vail, Colorado
Vertical 5,950 metres
Distance 37km
Vail is a very different resort to Jackson. Jackson is steeper, tougher and smaller. Vail is huge by comparison and has some great groomers and tree runs
We got a fresh dump of snow today and up to 10 inches of snow in some places
Fresh snow today!

Awesome stuff man. Saw that Tim took you guys out and was instantly jelly!!
It's neat going to two totally dif resorts in one trip. Same deal for us when we went ... Kicking Horse is like Jackson ... lots of vert and steep. Fernie sounds like Vail more.
Glad you guys got powder! I follow Jackson on instagram and it looks like you got really lucky with the snowfall last week!Training Log - The long overdue comeback: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=171218951

Thanks Michael! Tim is a really good guy (and a top skier) and he went out of his way to take us out
I like the idea of the two resorts as well .... it's nice to have the groomers as well as all the double black diamond stuff, because my knees get hammered after a week on the steeps. We had a huge dump ....see the pic
In for the pics!
It was great to catch up and we had a few beers during the week as well. You'll have to watch out .... One of the guys I was skiing with is from Seattle and I have an invite to visit. (Beware of wandering Aussies)
And eat Elk and steak
(And I'd love to visit Yellowstone in summer sometime ..... that'll be a trip with the missus)
You can talk ..... you are a platinum one frequent flyer you **** (I have Qantas Club envy)
My wife wants us to visit Yellowstone in the summer .... but without the kids! (there is life after children)
Thanks for dropping in Mike! It's my first time in CO, but it is seriously beautiful countryside. Vail is a big resort and there's plenty to do here in the summer as well as the winter! (So many things to do but not enough time )
Tuesday 5th March
Day 10 Skiing, Vail, Colorado
Vertical 7,219 metres/23,685 feet
Distance 44.9km/28 miles
We had a great day today, just skiing all the fresh powder we could find! 12 inches and more in some areas. My knees are absolutely fcuked
Awesome snow!
Wednesday 6th March
Day 11 Skiing, Vail, Colorado
Vertical 6,415 metres/21,050 feet
Distance 41.9km/26 miles
Another beautiful sunny day
Planning on having a big night on the beer tonight
