yeah dude that stuff works, i used to take that all the time. like iv bought 6 tubs of it probably in the past. it tastes horrible and doesnt mix the best but its a tub of protein!

I've taken cheap powder, and I've taken expensive powder. Personally, I believe you get what you pay for in most cases (unless you are buying from a brand like BSN... in which case you get a basic product and are paying for their expensive advertising). A lot of the cheap powders contain fillers and are not necessarily lactose free. They often do not taste very good. They are more likely to be whey concentrate rather than isolate. The source of the milk is questionable.

Currently, I am taking one of the most expensive powders out there (Jay Robb). It is too expensive for me to take all the time, but I got it at half price (even still I wasn't sure if I wanted to get it). I'm glad I did, because I'm seeing more gains with the same protein intake than I was with cheaper powers. I'm talking real, measurable gains after just a month of use. I have reason to believe this protein is more bioavailable than other types of powders I've used.

If you use a cheap powder, you will still get benefits, but you might need to use more of it. If you don't mind taking two scoops instead of one, and it is more economical to do so, then by all means go for a cheaper powder.

The body fortress stuff tastes bad, but if its better than nothing.

I've never used them, but the macros and AA profile seem ok.

Also, consider serving sizes (i.e. one scoop versus two). If you are paying for a 2 lb protein that has a two scoop serving, obviously it will not last as long as a one-scoop serving. I know some companies like Muscle Milk suggest a two scoop serving, making you go through a bottle faster.

Don't buy your protein from Wal-Mart. I can think of many reasons of why it's bad to buy cheap protein, but the one that will reap the most immediate consequences is that it just isn't high quality. Why does it matter? It matters because if you put in crappy protein, your body will have a harder time digesting it (which your body already has a hard time digesting high-quality proteins). Basically, you will end up f*cking up your kidneys with a low-quality, high protein diet. Dish out the extra cash and get the good sh*t

Whey is whey, all produced by immense processing and is basically a by product of many food industries. Instead of binning it, they now sell it to bodybuilders for extortinate prices!

Met-Rx make Bodyfortress. It's a good budget protein/ I stopped using it when they started adding Monohydrate creatine to it. The chocolate taste pretty good. Dymatize ISO-100 is all I use now. It's few bucks more than the popular brand on here but it's also damn near 20 more servings and pure protein.

Met-Rx make Bodyfortress.. It's like $15 for what 2lbs?? it's not really all that cheap and it's just as high of quality as any Whey concentrate on the market.

A 72 gram scoop is a shovel.

Right now its the only protein powder i use, taste good, great price and i think it works just fine. Id say I get just a good results with it as i did with that overpriced Muscletech NitroTech Hardcore crap.

What protein you buy wont matter too much, a lot of it is marketing, most of the large supplement companies purchase their whey from dairy manufacturers, and assuming that obviously the largest dairy company will produce the most whey, theres a high chance that if its a US product, most of the US proteins will be of the same quality.

Aside from the fillers and flavouring, the actual protein itself shouldnt differ too much. Just buy the cheapest USA whey you can find and you'll be okay imo.

(Unless you want something specific in the fillers, in which case its probably cheaper to buy a standalone product, e.g. thsoe stupid proteins that contain creatine in it etc).

I'd say the Wal Mart stuff isnt bad, but probably not your best bang for buck. Prolly find similar stuff with fancy packaging but cheaper.
