I want 10 or all 14 of the 45's
4 35's
4 25's
12 10's
4 5's
4 2.5's
What they will do is start with the 45's and your bid will be your cost per plate and the winning bid will choose the qty. then the second to last bidder will have the option to buy and so on.
I also have 600 lbs of plates to sell to recoupe costs.Last edited by ExtremistPullup; 07-24-2012 at 01:28 PM.

There should be 3 types of people
Resellers that don't want to pay too much and run the risk of no buyers.
People that want to expand there Ivanko collection (very few)
People and gym owners looking to buy weights cheaper then Academy and CL
Since they are a matching set, I think who ever gets most of the 45's won't have any competition on the rest of a incomplete matching set.
any other thoughts?Pullups Max reps: 40 reps

I think since it is an online auction taking bids from proxibid you may end up paying a little more than you want. It is also going to depend on how fast each listing closes. For example the 45s will end first, if the next set is 10 minutes later people may hold off on bidding until they see if they win the 45s, but if they end within 1 minute of each other you are going to get people bidding on all of the lots. Also, I think even if you win the 45s, 35s, 25s, etc... you may end up having to pay more than expected for the smaller plates. I watched one online auction where 10 pound plates went for more that 45 pound plates. It was odd to say the least. Make sure to factor in the 15% premium and 8.375% sales tax. That will increase your total pretty quick. The last thing I would say is keep an eye on bid increments. As the price gets higher so can the next bid increment. For example right now with a $1 bid the next bid is $1.25 If the 45s for example get bid up to $20 the bid increments may jump to $5 increments. If you would be willing to pay $25, but not $30 make sure you are the one that gets into the $25 slot first. A $5 jump on 8 plates ends up being a $50 change in price with the premium and taxes. So a $25 bid is really a $250 bid and a $30 bid is $300. Those are pretty big price jumps when the auction is ending.
Best of luck to you. Hopefully you can get all the plates super cheap, just keep the max amount you want to spend in mind and calculate everything backwards so you know what to bid.

It's a live auction and I think you can bid on their website.
Ya the biding goes very fast, and they move right along, all times must be picked up that day or one day later that week.
Usually for this auction house the bids go up by a quarter at the end. If it did jump put by 5 dollars and no one bids they lower it.
I made a chart that includes
Bid Amount- 10 % Fee - Tax - Total-(since I would buy in pairs) 2-4-6-8-10-12-14 qty price I can use this chart for each lot to know how much I am going to spend.
also I written in how much per lb for each plate each bid would be, the chart doesn't go higher then what the 45 will cost new.Last edited by ExtremistPullup; 07-25-2012 at 06:40 AM.

Does this auction automatically extend the auction if there is a bid in the last few minutes? The good thing is it is local and by the time these lots come up you will have a pretty good idea what to expect based on what the first few items have been selling for.

LOL. I just saw it and thought the same thing. The movie definitely glamorizes that one.
But damn, that is a beastly revolver...Im sure the recoil is ridiculous. While I am not afraid to shoot any gun, I dont necessarily want the experience to be unpleasant either.

Hey guys, I have a question for you. I am trying to raise some money to take the family to Disney World (some of you know this, as I listed a revolver for sale as one item I am sacrificing to do this).
I have an idea for a "Guy Garage Sale" and wanted to get some feedback to see if you guys thought it would be successful.
I have a good number of things to sell, mostly "guy" stuff and I thought if I combined them in one place and advertised like crazy (craigslist, newspaper, radio station), maybe I could raise the money in one day.
I could sell a lot of this stuff on ebay and do well, but Paypal gets a cut and I would have to take time to ship a bunch of stuff. For the sake of convenience, I would like to try this.
Anyways, these are SOME of the things I have to sell:
Bose 321 surround sound system/DVD player-retail $600
Yamaha brand 5 disc Cd changer-retail $100
Blackhawk Tactical vest-retail $100
Military issue AR15 magazines (new, never used, still in packages)
Jiu-Jitsu gi (new, never used, still in package)-retail $100
Rip:60 fitness system-retail $100
Playstation 3 games-retail $40-50 each
Various martial arts and fitness dvds and books (The Pit workout, Jiu Jitsu DVDs, etc)
Various boxing/martial arts equipment (focus mitts, gloves etc)
Converse tactical boots (new, never worn, still in box)-retail $100
"Guy" movies on dvd (300, Training day, etc)-retail $10 each
Possibly some weight equipment, other military/tactical gear, Plus some other stuff, I think you guys get my drift.
As a point of reference, whenever we have yard sales at my house (at least once per year), usually just selling old clothes and toys, we have never made less than $250 and have made up to $600. And again, that is with CHEAP pricing (example: any piece of adult clothing $1 any piece of child clothing-50 cents).
Now, the stuff I am selling I wouldnt let go for "yard sale" prices. For example, Im not going to sell the tactical vest for $5 or the Bose system for $20, but I will be willing to give typical craigslist prices (30-50% of the retail value, So I would sell the vest for $20-25 and the Bose system for $300).
So...do you guys think this will be successful? I plan to list a lot of these items in the descriptions when I advertise, with my asking prices for the larger items, so people that see it kind of know whats up ahead of time.
EDIT to address KBKB's point: I have had some of this stuff listed on craigslist for a solid 2 months and have not gotten a single offer on any of it.Last edited by buffbrown21; 07-25-2012 at 10:36 AM.

If it were me I would probably bid up to $20-$25 per plate. I would try to win both lots of the 45s to make buying the other plates easier. If you win one lot of the 45s and someone else wins the second lot you can bet that same person will be bidding on the 35s on down.

The problem is, I have tried that with some of the items on craigslist (Bose, rip60, Blackhawk vest) for a solid 2 months and have not gotten ANY offers on ANY of it.
It shocked me, I figured I would at least get a low ball offer on the Bose or something.
That is why I was thinking of trying this. That way, I cast a wider net and at least get some foot traffic and views on the stuff.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member #14

You could list the stuff on ebay with a buy it now or best offer. I know ebay gets a cut if it sells, but you reach a much wider audience and there is a very strong chance someone will contact you about buying the items outside of ebay. The cost to list an item is relatively low compared to if it actually sells. I also would list cash at time of pick up in your ad if you are selling locally.
