I'd buy all of those plates you can, probably of all the sizes. You shouldn't have a problem selling the extra ones, and it will help you win all of them. I was at an auction here and didn't bid high enough to win the 45s. The guy that won them had his way with the smaller plate lots.

good luck with the auction.
I tried my luck at a govt liquidation on some solid dbs and a couple of machines and some joker 400 miles away bid crazy money on them. I know that because a week later they were all for sale in Miami craiglist.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No 7

Sup crew
I've been somewhat busier than I'd like the pass couple of weekends. And this one will be more of the same. The good though will be I should be able to put my Caprice up for sell and a portion of that money will be going into the home gym. I've got my eyes on a sweet bench/weights/rack combo a guy has of Powertec gear...I know I have a bench/rack already but it's full upgrade and at the price it's a good buy even before I try to negotiate him down. Hoping it is still there come buying time. If not I'll just go for weights as planned. I think I can resell my other rack/bench fairly easily if I do land his combo with upgrades but not really thinking about anything except finishing the Caprice then selling it right now.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

second page bump.
Also, anyone have a prowler where the bolt goes through the ski?
Do you know what kind of bolt they use? Is it a simple large flat head?Boomer Rep Crew #1

another random question.
Thinking about bolting my Parabody to the floor when I get a more permanent solution.
Since the uprights attach to a post on the floor members I thought about centering the anchor in that area so that the anchors are not visible/not going through both sides of the floor member. However, this puts all the strain on one side of the steel tubing, instead of the whole tube. Wondering if that will be strong enough. I know it will add stability, but one reason I want to bolt it down is to set up a GHD inside the rack, so I may be pulling on those anchors/steel quite a bit.Boomer Rep Crew #1

Let me try to paint a picture for you...
each floor member has an upright post on it slightly smaller in L and W than the uprights. So the upright slides down on top of it to meet the floor member and a bolt is inserted through the post and the upright.
Since the post is hollow, if the upright is not yet assembled you can see straight down into the floor member. So if I drill a hole through the bottom of the floor member and place it on top of a concrete stud, I could insert a nutdriver in there to fasten it down. But then it would only be holding the rack down via one side of the floor member as opposed to placing the anchors elsewhere and going through the entire floor member.
And I don't know how I would a) separate the post from the floor member or b) attach the post to the floor. Plus with out the floor pieces I lose the lower cross member which the lat attachment is attached to, as well as height, which would be a problem for me.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I think a real photo would help. While I think I understand your set up, I'm not certain.
What's the issue with going through both sides of a horizontal section of the floor member? (I assume it's two sides of rectangular tubing that you'd be drilling through.)
There used to be a forum member here who sold band pegs which incorporated brackets which bolted to the floor. They looked really nice. The site used to be bandpegs.com, but it seems to be defunct now. Anyway, something like that might help in your situation too.
Even if you were to go through only the bottom portion of the floor member, you could distribute the load somewhat by using some fender washers. (I assume that you're worried about stressing the metal immediately under the bolt head, right?) If you have plate storage on your rack, the weight of the plates holding the rack down will reduce strain on those bolts and the metal immediately under the bolt head.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

Geez....gun ignorance and gun law ignorance is wearing me out on another website.
During my discussion of these topics (which is in a thread about the Colorado massacre) these things were stated.
#1 There is no good reason to own an Ar15. If I own one, it is ONLY because I want to look cool on the shooting range and I am as dumb as the shooter in Colorado.
#2 Anyone who buys over 1,000 rounds of ammo is up to no good.
#3 Anyone who hunts with an Ar15 is "stupid."
#4 Guns purchased at gun shows in 33 states require no background check.
I guess #1 is just opinion, but I named several reasons to include hunting, 3 gun competitions, collecting, nostalgia for a US Army veteran, among other things and was told ALL those reasons are dumb. But to compare me mentally to the cold blooded killer in this incident..WTF man?
#2 is also opinion, but can be disproved. However, I explained that competition shooters go through thousands of rounds quickly and buying ammo in bulk is a lot like buying toilet paper in bulk from Costco. You know that you will use it, why not buy a lot and save some of your money.
#3 is opinion also, but I would contradict that their opinion is stupid. People can hunt with what they want as far as I care. .223 is considered a "sporting" round anyways and is actually smaller than most hunting rifle rounds.
#4 is simply incorrect and I proved it and the person wont admit it.

Personally see no reason for me to own an AR-15...but I hardly hunt. I want a few handguns in various calibers and I'd like a pump action shotgun 12 gauge flavored. I might go for a double barrel break action, but it'd be mostly for skeet/trap shooting or possible Turkey/Coon hunts. I am not 100% sure if I'll get a rifle or not, I'd like to have a good deer rifle that I could also take to competition/ranges since I enjoy target shooting at the bench. (suggestions?)
When O started his speech and he was talking about the AK-47 I kind of realize at that point ignorance is the biggest enemy for gun rights.

I hate gun idiots on gun sites.
Hell I've gone through more than a thousand rounds in a weekend easily 7.62x39 to be exact ........also .22, and .40. only got a bit north of 500 with my 12 guage.
I sort of agree with number one, I mean the AR platform tends to be over priced when compared to other platforms made for the same purpose.
by the way I like the idea of a guy garage sale as long as you aren't out much to advertise it I'd also post fliers in the local gym, dojo, TSC gun shop etc.
I see a great need for every patriot to own a AR or similar type rifle I mean it is possible we may lose the election in Novemebr, then I'm betting we will need hem in short order.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 11

If they keep the senate and the white house, plus get to appoint one more judge to the court I'm betting you will see some action on gun rights. You would have a president who is a tyrant willing to act on his own will and damn all else, a court that would sanction his every action no matter how heinous, and a senate unwilling to prosecute the houses impeachment (why do you think there hasn't been an impeachment vote already). We would be in deep doo doo , see my suggestion to Hishiad above.

I don't see the court factoring into it much, at least not at this stage.
The Dems would have to get 60 seats in the Senate (to avoid a filibuster) and would also have to control the House. In addition, those majorities would have to have enough liberal Democrats for any gun control legislation to pass. It's just not going to happen.
Sadly, the two parties are so polarized right now that it's unlikely that our elected officials will pass any legislation of substance, even commonsense stuff that should be enacted. Our government is seriously broken.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

why own an AR?
Simple, they are fun to shoot.
My biggest problem is that there is too much misinformation regarding guns.
There is no clear definition on what makes one gun an assault weapon (and why do they choose the word "weapon" in the ban, and not rifle? is too open to interpretation for my liking.
People hear semi-automatic and think it is actually an automatic.
Among others.
I think my biggest point of contention is the misunderstanding of the Second Amendment. People believe it was put into place to defend against an invading nation, when the reality is that it was for the protection of the people against their own government. And that is just sad that people don't understand things like that.
Far too much effort is going into designing new laws instead of enforcing the ones we already have. However there was a law designed I would back wholeheartedly and I think they tried it for awhile in Virginia. I think the beauty is in the simplicity - if you commit a crime with a gun, or a fake gun, or allude that you have a gun - it is a federal offense. Rob a 7-11 with a gun? It's not six months in state prison and you're out, it's several years in a federal prison. I really think it would work very well as a deterrent.
This would cut down on more crime than banning assault rifles.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I hope the part of #1 that you agree with doesnt include me being "as dumb as the shooter" in Colorado...LOL.
And I named a TON of legitimate reasons why someone might prefer an Ar15 to another .223 rifle on that website and was told that I was dumb and ALL of the reasons were dumb.
By the way, this wasnt on a gun website, but regardless, the ignorance was massive.
Most of what you said I brought up as well.
Actually (at least here in Georgia) armed robberies do NOT automatically equal federal cases. The VAST majority of armed robberies (like 7/11s) end up with state charges. Now, if its a bank, then you are MUCH more likely to get a federal case (although I have seen a FEW that didnt).
Edit: Were you saying that armed robberies=federal case everytime COULD be a change that could help quell gun violence? If so, I apologize, I misread that.
WOW> And if she said this YESTERDAY is proof of the ignorance of firearms by the media.Last edited by buffbrown21; 07-27-2012 at 08:38 AM.

I don't know why bank robberies require the FBI. People say its because banks are insured by the federal government FDIC. FDIC insure use banks due to failure not robberies. Banks have separate hazard and casualty insurance.
