This company is staffed with nurses, physical therapists, and doctors that process claims....they actually have medical training instead of just pushing papers in a gov't building somewhere. Heck, the only snafu I had in my whole process was when I did have to speak to the bureau!

    Good luck man.
LOOOONG explanation coming about this....but no, I am dealing directly with the department of labor and they have NOT been helpful. Long story/explanation ahead.

One of the main issues is that when I initially contacted Worker's Comp, they told me that if I wanted further medical treatment, I would have to call a doctor and set up my own appointment. They said they wouldnt do it because their information only has "hurt knee" with no further diagnosis, no x-rays, etc. I told them that the doctor at the Federal Law Enforcement Traning Center told me specifically to get an MRI as soon as I got home. But they said they had nothing like that in writing and my claim was in what they called "short form closure" or some ****.

So, I began to try to set up an appointment of some sort. When I called several doctors here and tried to get an appointment (giving them my worker's comp claim # and such), they said that I cant schedule an appointment, that W.C./Dept of Labor must do it for me.

I made a few more calls, both to doctors and W.C. trying to resolve this.

W.C. finally told me to schedule it on my own and either pay out of pocket or use my own insurance. Then, send the results of the visit to them to see if they will accept the claim. If they did accept the claim, I would be reimbursed for that appointment and whatever future appointments I needed.

I called one of the doctors I spoke to previously and they said I was being screwed. Apparently, as soon as I file my own insurance on ANYTHING related to this claim, worker's comp can drop my case automatically per their policy. No ifs, ands or buts. This doctor said it happens all the time because it is an easy way for W.C. to get rid of cases and not have to pay. So then, the doctor called them and called me back and said that the W.C. person handling my case was supposed to set up an appointment and call me (but it couldnt be with his office, because they werent part of the network of doctors that are approved to do worker's comp claims).
That was last Wednesday...never heard anything.

Fast forward to Monday (2 days ago). I called W.C. to see what the deal was and they acted like "what do you mean?" I told them what the doctor told me about scheduling an appointment and they said that they never said that and that I still had to schedule my own appointment. WTF!!!!!!!

So, I asked about the network of doctors that I was allowed to use that W.C. would approve of and was directed to a website to find a local doctor that they approved of. This was absolutely the WORST website to navigate that I have ever been on. After 45 minutes, I called the number listed on the "contact us" area of the website and got 2 doctors (orthopedic specialists) local to me.

I called them and tried to set up an appointment and got the same crap about how W.C. has to schedule the appointment. I told them about what I have been through so far and to PLLLLLLEEEEEEAAASSSSEEE tell me if there was ANY OTHER WAY.
They put me on hold and came back and said that my supervisor could schedule an appointment for me. Well, ****. My direct supervisor is on 10 days leave. So I said **** IT and called his supervisor (who was befuddled that he had to handle something like this). Anyways, he made the call and set up the appointment-July 25.

I called worker's comp back and they seemed surprised that I was able to make this happen. I truly believe they were doing anything they could to drop/deny my claim. It really pissed me off, to be honest.

    Anyways, long story is long.

Ok, I'm being reminded why I don't like working legs, even though I've been going after them more the past few months.

We're on vacation in Williamsburg, VA and the walking I've been doing the last few days is causing a lot of chaffing. Not so fun.

Buff... you're in a bad situation. It looks as though you will need to double check or triple check every action the bureau advises you to take in order to make sure you don't render your claim null. Funny, we even have an attorney in the area that would love to have you as a customer. His entire livelihood is based on representing WC victims...er, patients. Let me say right off, this guy is greasy....very greasy, he's not the attorney you'd necessarily like to call your own. However, I'll be damned if this guy isn't about as good as you can get to represent you against these snakes. I didn't have to use him because my claim went mostly flawlessly, but I've heard several people have used him and he pretty much doesn't lose. Its a shame you have to hire a snake to get on the job injuries resolved correctly, but apparently he speaks their language, so they get what they get. Good luck.

Pumping.....I have always had thick legs. Squating and deadlifting has only made that worse. I pretty much chafe if I go get the mail now. I have given up on normal underwear and rely solely on some type of "starter" type short that wraps tight around the leg and prevents my legs from coming into contact with each other. Its a pain and they're expensive, but I've had days where my legs were like hamburger after walking around in the sun. Its just worth the cost now.

If by "enough to pay for my bayou total trainer" you mean $12.50...then yes.

You left too soon buddy, you missed some drama. First, the neighbor kid kept betting he could shoot hoops against Sean until the neighbor kid had bet his entire bike away. Sean did not keep his bike of course, but he had the little guy convinced after he said it was his bike and stuck it into his truck.....nothing like picking on a nine year old, eh?

Finally, I told the kids they had fifteen minutes left at about 345.....about ten minutes later we ended a little more abruptly than intended when Sean's younger son got pushed into the pool and forgot to take his chin in with him.....he ate the concrete and laid his chin open. He's fine, but I doubt his mom appreciated them coming home with six stitches he hadn't left with .

    Good times.

Thanks for coming and still hope you're good with the deal we made on the stuff. Once you puke on the prowler I really doubt you'll care about the rust, eh?

damn, that sucks! bet that freaked the other kids out a little. i was kinda worried about allison being the only girl, but she had a great time. vance got his old costumes out and ran around being a power ranger when we got home. allison wants more windows in the back of the house and now they both want a pool in the backyard and a bounce house in the basement. vance also wanted to pee on a tree when we got here.

we hit some traffic in dublin/marysville and then again around ann arbor, didn't get home until about 7. thanks for having us.

i'm fine with the prowler, my wife looked at my new treasures and just shook her head. i think i heard "oh brother" under her breath, too

hey, while i'm thinking about it, if you have any extra pancake plates for dumbbells, let me know the going rate. might be getting rid of the powerblocks pretty soon. if you decide to get rid of the extra ironmasters, i want them. and before you trade up to the next rack, let me know. i guess i could help you out if you want to get rid of that flimsy thing down there...

    What's up fellas?

You guys should do a trip out east to the Philly area or one of these days. Or possibly in the fall I could come over that way?

I've been playing with the prowler the last few weeks - Animal you're going to love/hate it, LOL. Haven't puked yet, but I've been in a dizzy spell for 20+ minutes after the last set on it, lol. It's hard as hell.

    well here's my situation -

the reason I am setting up a home gym is cause my girlfriend is pregnant with our first kid and I realized that I won't be able to go to the gym whenever I feel like it. Plus I have a friend who told me that his earliest memories is being in a playpen in the garage while his dad and uncle lifted, so I thought it would be a great way for me give the girl a break for an hour a day and bond with the kid. Kids like Motorhead, right?

On top of that, we are moving in with her parents at the end of July so we can save some money for a house.

Her dad lifts, he has an old sets of standards, no rack, has a lat pull down made of a pulley on the garage door rail. But he's way cool and wants me to bring the rack, bench, weights I have already bought.

This of course is causing hindrance to my new gear obsession, since I don't have room to pick stuff up and try to flip - which really hurts since I found a guy with 1200lbs of plates, an old rack I don't recognize with a smith attachment, and a set of DBs from 10-100 by tens for $800.....shame. But I do have the girl on board for flipping once we have some room since I promised I would try to use the money I make to buy her a Precor...

Although, I did just find 215lbs of milled Yorks for $100 I am going to try to pick up this weekend, so that's a plus.

Seems like everyone I've talked to that has used one says the same thing. Really wish I had room for more equipment. Maybe one day....

It's ironic cause that's simular to why I started putting together my home gym.

Wife was pregnant and while she's a great woman, she can be a bit "needy" at times. So I figured if I cut out the time being away from the house and can just be out in the garage for 20 - 50 minutes if she needed anything.
Then I got laid off from work (the same week I told my boss we were pregnant...nice, huh).

So, I had to bare bones it which wasn't that bad...I just didn't want to go over board with no job and a baby on the way.

Its been nice being able to workout in the garage except when it's freezing cold or 5000*...then it does make me wish I still had a gym membership (for a minute).

    Weird similarity.

The girl just got let go from her job a week ago, but it will probably be a blessing. Her parents were looking to hire an assistant for a couple days a week for the businesses they run out of their home, but her mom was leery of having a stranger in the house that much. Problem for them solved, bit of extra income for her. Plus the Y in the area that she used to teach swimming at is looking for an instructor part time, early mornings and evenings so she is talking to them about going back to that. So while she's teaching in the evening, I'll have the kid and be working out. Cool thing is, the money we save on daycare + the two part time gigs should have us coming out ahead compared to what she was making before. And she'll have some free time to do freelance graphic and interior design.

Nice setup with the part time jobs.
And yes...day care is brutal. I think we pay $360 a month for just one and this is a lady that has an in home (her home) day care with just a few children. The cost of daycare and my wife going back to school are the two things keeping us from having another right now....well, that and the idea of having ANOTHER since my daughter is a one year old...lol.

I wouldn't trade my daughter for anything...but if we didn't have day care and a couple of CC bills, we'd be rock'n financially and I wouldn't be driving this old freak'n mini-van...lol

I totally understand. I keep thinking of Louis CK's line about his kids (although he is divorced, or at least says he is for his act) - there is nothing in the world he loves more than his kids and he never thought he could love something that much. But he regrets every decision that lead to their existence.

I think it's great that you'll be spending time with your kid while working out. My wife and I used to bring our son into the climbing gym with us when he was just a baby. He's now 17 and is climbing better than I ever could. We were able to spend time with him that way when he was little and I'm able to spend time with him now that he's older. (I gotta say though, as a parent, teen years can be difficult. Hope I wasn't that hard on my parents when I was that age...)

Thanks. Feels good that we are finally letting the secret out. Due on Christmas day. Kid's got good genes - I'm 6'3" 255 and was a high school and collegiate rower and mom is 5'10" 180 and was a nationally ranked high school swimmer.

Yea I really think it's a win for everyone. Keeps me motivated to workout, bond with the kid and hopefully instill a healthy attitude toward a healthy lifestyle, and it will give the woman a daily "break."

You can say that. A few on here are aware of some of the "situations" that my oldest daughter has presented us. Two teenage daughters keeps me wanting to do more cardio work, to try and cap the blood pressure numbers....
