Last weekend I gorged on saturday and I feel like it ruined all the hard work that I did throughout the week. I am just wondering if one day really can cancel our a weeks worth of hard work, I am not stopping my diet obviously but I'm just wondering if its ok to gorge once a week at least.

OP, yes it can. For a long time I would diet perfectly for 6 days, have a "cheat day" where I binged on whatever, then I wondered why I couldn't make any progress. I was basically just spinning my wheels and breaking even. Don't gorge.

definately. you said "one day" and not one meal. a day's worth of gorging can take you out of your defecit easy. specially if you gorge like i used to

Coming from experience. I have had one cheat day a week and still lost weight. But I am also 20-25% BF I think it might be harder for a person with less BF%. I have went from 215 down to 165 while having 1 cheat day...But now im upping my calories throughout the week so I dont think I will have a full blown cheat day anymore...Maybe a cheat meal .
Also, This could be a problem for people with Binge eating disorder which tends to mess them up throughout the coming week.
Good luck

Of course it can. I stayed at the same bodyfat for like a month while "cutting" cause i would have a binge day every week. You can get away with a responsible cheat meal every week. But even that I don't recommend. If your cutting just learn some portion control and either work your favorite foods into your daily calorie goal or just have one meal every week or two that is whatever you want....whatever you want food wise, not calorie wise. Every thing counts and Its ALOT easier to rack up a surplus than it is to create a deficit. Its really not even that hard to go 10-12 weeks cutting without a cheat. Its all mental, you definitely don't need it!

If you have a good deficit going 6 and 1/2 days a week a single meal will not hurt you, unless we're talking about a 3kcalorie meal+
And even if we were, a simple dietary deficit of 500kcalories a day leaves you even, not even counting your exercise calories.
Don't sweat it, but put a little effort into making your cheat meals both satisfying and smart.

I have been eating good and clean for a few months. I just moved to San Francisco so I've been out getting drunk as **** every other day BUT I've been eating real clean till last night. I went to a ****ing vintage McDonald's in Oakland and got a double cheeseburger and a double quarter pounder (half-pounder?). I weighed myself today and I'm 178 but I think that's more of a diuretic effect from drinking so much. Either way my point is that gorging all day is trouble, but messing up a meal won't undo the progress you've made. And if you feel bad about it, go bust your ass in the gym.

My idea of 'trying to lose weight' was to diet strictly for 6-10 days and then freak out and eat as much as I possibly could like I was trying to punish myself. I'm talking about giant milkshakes, entire packages of oreos, serious self-hatred style.
Now my rule is no-gorging-ever. Feels so much better, and I've dropped 20lbs of fat since November. ('cheat meals' or refeed days are cool though I guess)

No it cant unless you make a habit of it. It is the things we do consistently that have the greatest effect on us.
If you overeat by 1000 calories one day but were in a 500 a day deficit all week the 1000 divided by 7 days means you dropped your average deficit by about 140 calories. It is not that linear and probably less impact than the math would suggest.
Not a reason to binge and sabotage your plans but dont panic and give up.
