What do you guys eat pre-workout in the morning before you go to the gym? I'm looking for something fast that I can eat and go straight to working out, no need to wait a long time to digest.
My normal breakfast is black coffee, eggs and toast but by the time I can sip all the coffee and cook/eat/digest the breakfast I need about 2hours until I can make it to the gym.
I have tried eating oatmeal and protein powder in the morning but the problem I find with that is I start to feel really hungry half way through my workout.
Any suggestions????

I have done it a few times and from what I remember it was not to bad. Only problem is I feel like I start to get hunger pangs in the middle of my workout. Maybe I can just eat a banna before?
This might be an option, banna and black coffe
Yeah thats what I noticed with trying to do my workouts in the morning. It just does not work out like I would like. I guess i'm just going to have to learn to get used to it.

lately this is what i have been eating 2-3 hours preworkout:
time to prepare:
20 seconds
ingredients:
2 cups kashi GoLean (not "crunch"... get the plain one with low sugars)
1 scoop whey
1 cup whole milk
macros(off the top of my head)
700cals
65g protein
80g carbs
23g fiber
13g fats
i'm cutting and this is my highest cal meal of the day but these calories are definitely worth it.
these boxes of Kashi Golean go for about 5 dollars max!Drug free is the way to be (srs)

It depends on what I'm doing for the day... if I know I'll be hitting weights for the most part, I go empty-stomached, but with a few dates in my gym bag.
On the other hand, if I'm doing ss cardio or intervals, I try to get a banana or a small bowl of plain oatmeal in before walking over to the gym. No need for serious cooking or waiting to digest. The three great loves of my life: cooking, eating, and food porn.

Agree.. Coffee should supress the hunger pangs somewhat as well. I personally don't have the energy to train in the mornings regardless of food intake. Assuming you have to due to commitments later in the day, training fasted also means you don't have to get up early as **** to prepare a pre-workout meal..

I just either have a banana or a small PB&J. Not hungry in the least bit when I wake up but I tried not eating and it didnt sit well with me. Just need something quick and easily digested, so no need to really over think this here. Try it and see if you are ok without eating.

while overall daily macro targets are definitely more important several nutrition studies and pro bodybuilders point to consuming protein/carbs 30 mins-4hrs before working out being slightly more beneficial than training fasted? Correct me if I'm wrong but from reading several different articles and reading some works by Lyle / reviews by Alan Aragorn I've definitely gotten this feel (overall is FAR more important but PWO does have slight affect on protein synthesis)

Here's what I do.
I make a shake with a blender consisting of:
1 cup raw oats
1 banana
6-8 ice cubes
1 cup skim milk
1-3 oz greek yogurt
.5-1 scoop protein powder
honey (if desired for taste)
and I drink this 1 hour before hitting the waits.
The best bet for quickness however would be to eat 2 bananas. That will supply enough energy for your workout and digests fairly quickly versus oats and what not.
Edit: Sorry didn't see that this post was a year old
