For some of you women on a diet, I know how you all love your chocolate...but so do I
I made up this recipe yesterday to help keep my wifes sanity on her diet. its full of complex carbohydrates and healthy fats (omega 3's and omega 6's and flax seed)...
Preheat oven to: 275 degree's
what you need:
-6 cups (480 grams) quaker rolled oats
-112 grams milled flax seed
-50 grams unsweetened coco powder
-120 grams slivered almonds
-60 grams unsweetend coconut
-178 grams splenda brown sugar mix
- 3/4 cup sugar free maple syrup
- 4 Tsp chocolate extract
- 2 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup water
*mix all your dry ingrediants in GIANT mixing bowl (oats, flax seed, coco powder, almonds, coconut, salt).
**Mix Splenda brown sugar with 1/2 cup water, and 3/4 cup sugar free syrup in microwave safe bowl, microwave on high for 5 minutes or untill splenda is completely disolved and super hot.
*** Combine dry ingrediants, with hot syrup mixture, and add chocolate extract at this time.... keep mixing till all ingrediants are completely combined.
****spread mixture over 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper, place in oven for roughly 1 hour or untill granola is dried out.
Each 30 gram serving :
Fat: 5 grams (all healthy fats)
carbohydrates: 18.5 grams
protein: 3.5 grams
enjoy and use sparingly as the calories can add up quick with granola...makes for a good afternoon snack before you hit the gym.
