Well for me, losing weight is one of my goals so I mix my MRPs with water only. By mixing my MRP with water, I cut 86-90 calories per 8oz of skim milk. I use MRPs in place of food sometimes and I look for an MRP that has a good amount of protein while having the least amount of calories. Some time ago, Myoplex was my favorite MRP and I loved the regular version had 280 calories with 42g of protein so I would split the package in half so that I would only ingest half the calories but still get a fair amount of protein since a whole package gave you 42g. Then the MRPs formulated for women came out and the calories were alot less than 280. After working out, I drink protein powder mixed with water again to get some protein into my body and again I've cut 90 calories by using water. That's my reason, knocking out calories when I can without cutting out food. I don't propose to be some expert, but I read alot and at one point, I did workout regularly. This is suppose to be a forum so I try to provide sincere replies when I can.

1% milk.... Regardless of cut/ bulk.
Why? It is an excellent PWO recovery tool... And tasty too....

I've tried mine with just plain water and do not like it that way, the only way I like it (with just protein) is blended with either plain ice or frozen coffee ice from leftover coffee and made into "iced fraps" That way you get more flavor and a little pick me up!
Or I mix with almond breeze which only has 40 calories a cup and less carbs then milk and makes it a lot creamier and less watery.
I guess it really depends how many calories I want to spend on a shake, because they don't keep me full for long so I have to eat soon after anyway. :P

This..many times over. Unless I'm on a zero carb keto crash, I mix 1-2 cups 1% milk, and a little water only if I want a bigger shake...

When I first bought PP I always mixed it with milk because the thought of a watery shake was disgusting. But I met a lot of people who swore by it (especially the low-carb variety) and I switched over to water for quite awhile.
Lately I bought some reallly yummy PP (Whey gourmet cookies & cream mmmmm!!) And I've really been enjoying taking a cup of ff milk in the car and mixing it after (frosty and delicious) combined it puts me at 200cal, 30g protein 15g carbs, 2g fat.
Just wondering what everyone else does? Milk vs water? and why?

I use milk (2%) and sometimes heavy cream in my shakes, because squeezing in extra liquid calories(and more calories overall is a priority for me)

For a 1/4c of 1% milk vs. some of the almond breezes, carbs are nearly the same but I usually now use 1/4c Almond Breeze and then some cold water.
My shakes have pp, banana, blueberry, cocoa and splenda in them so I don't find using some water to be that yucky

mmm. If I was coming home after my workouts I would definitely throw some of that in, don't think my shaker cup in the car could smooth that out unfortunately haha.

True! And on days when I don't, which is becoming more often (rush to shower at gym, see clients, go to class, bah!) - I just put 1/2c of almond breeze and then add little water to a bottle, with cocoa and splenda added in. Then, just add the pp to the bottle and eat a banana on the side!

Skim milk if I feel like a boost after training but normally use water to keep the dairy/sugar content down (i use soy for coffee etc), I find I digest it better with h20! I just introduced my friend to protein shakes for her afternoon 3:30itis.... said she might want to try with milk first, thinking that will ease her into it and she said eww too sweet, so she went straight to water, second shake... so proud lol.
