Allmax R-ALA and Blood Sugar Control Log

OK, Well I am type one diabetic.

I have been for 8.5 years now, it sucks but I am managing it with diet and bodybuilding. Since getting into bodybuilding it has been much better.

Recently Natural Muscle Magazine did an article on my and my diabetes, check it out here!

    http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/to...op/2010011901/

I am on page 34!!! SO if you see this magazine anywhere, at your gym or local health club, look for me!

Anyways. In the article you will see that I use Allmax R-ALA to help with blood sugars at time. I haven't used it in while so I am going to start it back up again.

For some reason in the mornings I am resistant to insulin. Right now I have been giving about twice as much quick acting insulin as I normally would. Which is not healthy.

I could wake up with a low sugar, eat and give all the extra insulin and get to work and test about 3 hours later and im up in the 300-400 range! When diabetics should stay between 80 - 120. So not good.

I recently started using a continuous glucose monitor. So for the next week I will post a screen shot of each day so you can see how ALA effects my sugars.

What I will be looking for:
    - Better blood sugar control after breakfast
    - Using less insulin throughout the day, less insulin will result in better fat loss!
    - I am also looking to learn more about ym body and how certain things effect my disease.

***If you are diabetic, do not attempt this, I am very intune with my body, consult medical assistance when starting a product that will effect your insulin/blood sugars***

    So what is R-ALA?
ALLMAX Nutrition R-ALA promotes the muscle’s uptake of glycogen. It does this by optimizing insulin activity and helps speed up the amount of nutrients shuttled to your muscles pre and post-workout. R-ALA can help speed up muscle recovery and can be combined with creatine to create a powerful and anabolic compound.

ALA is also an extremely potent antioxidant, so powerful it is known as the ‘Universal Antioxidant’. Anyone who trains regularly knows exercise can place a lot of wear and tear on your body. By supplementing with ALLMAX Nutrition R-ALA you can protect your body from the oxidative damage associated with intense training.

    R-ALA Complex

ALLMAX Nutrition R-ALA Complex is a scientifically proven Nutrient Delivery and Antioxidant complex. Unlike competitive ALA Products, this complex supplies 125 mg of the active R(+) isomer, the pure mitochondrial form of ALA naturally found in the human body. This specific isomer is the exact form linked to the beneficial properties of alpha lipoic acid.

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID - THE TRUTH UNCOVERED

Commercially available ALA Products on the market today consist almost entirely of the S (-) isomer of alpha lipoic acid. These inferior products have significantly weaker nutrient delivery and antioxidant properties. If your ALA product does not include the R (+) isomer of ALA, make the switch to ALLMAX Nutrition R-ALA Complex today.

I will get some screen shots from my continuous test up in a bit. I know this will not be the most exciting log, but if you have family members who are diabetic this could be very beneficial for them.

I will try and get some graphs up tonight. But wow what a huge difference. A few days ago, after breakfast my sugar went over 300! Today is my 3rd day on the R-ALA, been kind of messing with my insulin a bit, and wow today I woke up at 130, gave less insulin than normal, and after breakfast my sugar peaked at 161, then dropped down to the 80s. So I will try less insulin next time to prevent that drop, but im really excited about this!

Subbed. I am a regular user of R-ALA and not diabetic. I use it post workout to shuttle nutrients into the muscles and with higher carb meals to help utilize the carbs for energy. Looking forward to learning how it helps manage your blood sugar!

How many caps are you using per dosage?

Just one pill. In the past I would use it post workout as well. And only need like .5 to 1 unit of insulin for like 100g carb. Which I would normally need around 10 units!

Well here are some screen shots from my continuous glucose monitor of my sugars. The first 3 are before I started R-ALA. The next 3 after that are when I started R-ALA

The green are is target glucose range

    Day 1:

    Day 2:

    Day 3:

*Notice all the peaks and valleys, NOT GOOD!*
    Day 4: (started R-ALA)

*Smaller Peak in the AM, but stayed good the rest of day*
    Day 5:

*Still some peaks and valleys but not as severe jumps*
Day 6: This day was near perfect, went low a few times though

As you can see after starting R-ALA my sugars were lower and under better control. I have pretty much eliminated that big spike in sugar after I eat carbs, mainly breakfast, especially with the last image. I was so happy to see that!

What does this mean for all of you non diabetics? Well better blood sugar control is great for anyone. Maintaining optimal sugar and insulin levels will lead to better energy, better control of hunger, you will feel better. If you goal is fat loss, fat loss will work at an optimal rate, the same when trying to gain, keeping your sugars level help to keep your body in its much needed homeostasis.

Insulin sensitivity is important as well. Especially post workout, so taken post training will shuttle more nutrients more efficiently into your hungry muscle cells, (which is why we have ALA in our Isoflex protein http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/all/iso.html ) Insulin is a very powerful hormone and drug, too much is never a good thing, the list of potential "side effects" is huge.

R-ALA is also a great anti-oxidant, the best IMO. I am all about staying healthy, so this product is perfect for better health and blood sugar control.

Well there it is, PROOF that Allmax R-ALA works, and helps to better control blood sugars. If you have any questions let me know!

Wow, you can really see the results, that's awesome. I use the R-ALA quite frequently - I've noticed I don't get that "carb coma" after large meals when I use it.
