I know a fking Senior Sherrif and dude's been living in a fking apartment forever with wife and kids. I thought he was broke all this time... why not get your own place... seems like he's been serving forever too and about to retire, been in apartments ever since. Do they get apt rent paid or something?

You act as if that's a lot of money. The 75-80k pay depends on Seniority, and which State you live in. Cops are known to be well underpaid, much like teachers.

Sergeant brah, not "sargent"
But here, LEOs start around $40k for city and $36k for County. PD has to pay for retirement, medical, etc. etc. while SO pays nothing hence the lower salary, which in the end, they both make around the same.
With just 10yrs on, you can see a near six figure salary, or with enough OT, you can turn $40k/yr. into $90-$100k/yr.No lifting crew

In the UK
My Wife is a CID officer in the UK.
She probably pulls in 40k+ a year. Including overtime. Not bad for a 26 year old who has been in the force for 4 years. The most she bought back after one month was 4k...after tax
We are pretty much equal on pay stakes, excluding my annual bonuses. So I still make more. I am an accountant...job is hella boring though!!!
But she works damn hard, and i never see her if there has been a murder or whatever..
Plus she has final salary pension (11% of gross wages each month) so she is not gonna have to work after she retires at 51. Also 5 days on, 4 days off etc...
I'll probably be retiring at 101!!!Last edited by Donster; 02-19-2010 at 01:17 AM.
