Large traps on a female question
Just wondering.......what you all think of large traps on a female. I like the look and am trying to build mine up; I know I'll get a good response. I have had other females tell me that this looks "gross" on a female.....will "make my neck look short" etc. I think it looks awesome. Just wondering if most think this look is unattractive? My sister thinks I am nuts.

I think they look fine on a woman. Really, it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks. If you like them, then go for it! As they begin to grow, you can decide to stop at any time if you don't like the comments you get.

Thats the beauty of BB. It should be called body sculpting because you can shape and re-shape to suit your needs.

From what I can see in your avatar pic, you 've got nicely developed shoulders and chest (no, I'm not being a pig) so I say go for it. Traps and shoulders have always been problematic for me. Not my weakest points but certainly not my strongest.

I don't directly work my traps, and they certainly have developed along with the rest of my upper body. Personally, I don't like the look of HUGE traps (i.e., when your neck looks like it's only about 4 inches long), and mine currently look in proportion with the rest of me, so I doubt that I will change what I'm doing. I would say it's an asthetic decision - if you like the look, go for it! I recently saw a picture of a female bb-er who had highly developed traps, and they looked fabulous. I'll see if I can find the picture...

I hope I don't disappoint you, but why change something that is already scrumptious (in maintaining the cookie theme)? But, nothing is wrong with a little trap work.

Why, thank you Mark1T. You have a scrumptious looking arm there in your avatar yourself. ( Flirt, flirt).

Developed traps on women look great.....
I have always admired women with developed traps. Another plus for me is a well developed bicep, one with a little bit of a "peak", like you would get from overhead cable curls.

I don't do direct trap work because mine grow just fine from doing other work. Plus, I think it depends on the person's frame. I have a narrow frame and even though I work my delts and they are developed well, they are only going to get so wide. Narrow shoulders and large traps do tend to lend to a slope shouldered look on me. I do this for aesthetics and prefer to try to make my shoulders as visually wide as possible.
Your shoulders look nice. I think you should do what pleases you most with your own body.

I cant answer for everyone but I think Im gonna be accurate on this one.
Within the bodybuilding community, most beleive, including myself that a woman with some devlopment in the traps is attractive.
On the other hand, outside of the body building community traps developed more than just a slight bit on a woman most will say is unattractive and masculine.
So, the question is are you gonna do what makes you feel best, or what others think?

I personally prefer a curvacious body that is tight and doesn't jiggle with every little movement. But I also respect the hard work that female BB's go through to look the way they do in contest form.

I like the look, and am working on mine also. I think from the back it helps define the rear deltoids and the lat spread looks better with them. I dont think it will make your neck look short.
Good luck.

Traps
Without well developed traps you can run the risk of looking too spiney (I made that word up!) on the top of your back when you cut. I say go for it!

Large traps are attractive on ladies.
Small traps are attractive on ladies too.
All women are attractive, some are just more attractive than others...
(nevermind, I am biased!)

I think it does depend a lot on your frame, and how you carry yourself. Plus, a lot of people think of just the top portion across the shoulders, and forget that the trapezius is a large muscle, forming a triangle with one point past your shoulder blades along the spine. So developing them helps with getting detail and definition in the entire upper back.

i think large traps on females are very attractive. then again i like women with real muscles. fell in love with cory everson many years ago. i think the girls who don't like it are ones who don't exercise and a little jealous of the ones who do.

Since I started DC training, I haven't done any direct trap work. I find the rack deadlifts I do hit them better than the shrugs I used to do! You might consider that...
And I have I have to agree w/ Mark1T - your traps (and everything else) look pretty good to me! (no, not being a leach)

I don't care for big traps and I exercise. I don't envy or want the traps of the big trap people. They can make out with their big traps -- lick them, kiss them. . . whatever -- as far as I'm concerned. I just don't want them.
It's a preference thing. I do not like big traps on me, so I try not to hit them directly. They're going to get worked anyway.
