Hey, I've been training for the DTS Bodybuilding competition and really need to lose my remaining fat. I'm having a hard time eating what I need to because I can't really afford to buy the proper amount of food. I currently weigh 229 lbs. I believe I should lose 29 lbs. of fat to be ready. Should I use a weight gainer? I'm not sure because I've got fat to lose but I'm not eating as much as I should. Thanks for your help everyone!

Because the weight gainers are full of nutrients that support your muscles as they grow larger. These nutrients that your muscles need include calories and carbs. I want my muscles to grow larger and my fat to cut down. I'm unsure if my muscles can live of the amount of nutrients my body is recieving or if I should get a weight gainer to support them without putting fat in my system.

Okay... I will just start from the top.
When cutting you need to be in a calorie deficit. The bigger the calorie deficit, the more muscle you will lose during your cut. The smaller the calorie deficit, the more muscle you will maintain. If you need to lose 29lbs by a certain date, adjust calorie intake accordingly.
A weight gainer would not be a good idea because it gives you a low amount of satiety. Sure, it has a lot of carbs, but those are least important when cutting. Protein and fat are much more important. And going against the grain of what a lot of people like to believe, fat doesn't make you fat. It is a required macro nutrient for many reasons.
And last, carbs aren't going to help you gain muscle and lose fat. This is next to impossible. If you are going to cut down, you should concentrate on maintaining your lifts and maintaining the muscle mass that you have.My Workout Log (NEW): http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136142601

Pretty sure there is a reason they call it a "weight gainer"
