Is Skiing or Snowboarding Harder On Your Body?

Title says it basically. This doesn't just include falls (falls are obviously a big part of it), but just in general, do you think a skier or snowboarder will have more wear and tear on their body when they get older?

I have heard of a lot more blown knees from years of skiing that never fully go away. Snowboarding the most i usually hear about is a broken wrist.

Snowboard man, there both physically hard on the body...

I noticed snowboarding really, really! works the shins/calfs.. with all the pushing forward/back..

4-5 runs down the mountain anyway you do it will take it out of you.

Cross country ski! now that **** is hard on the body.. 2 hours in you'll be down to a t-shirt no matter how cold it is on the slopes.

Edit ; Yes broken wrist for snowboading is soo damn common. remember to land on your ass.. not your wrist and you'll be fine

I'm not sure, but I can imagine Skiing is brutally hell on your knees...same goes for Figure Skating.

I've never tried skiing but I've been snowboarding most of my life and have never had any injuries from wear and tear type stuff. You're prone to tweak your neck more on a snowboard though.
    So it goes...

can you still do aerials like half-pipe and whatnot on skis without being a super expert? I heard that you have to be incredible at skiing before you attempt that while an average snowboarder can hit the parks.

in all seriousness, ive been skiing since i was five and i have no lasting injuries except my lower back from a really ****ed up crash.
ive twisted my knee pretty bad, ****ed my back up, and knocked myself out a few times. but nothing too serious.
my dad on the other hand has torn his biceps tendon, COMPLETELY severed his achilles (doctor said it looked like an explosion went off in his leg, worst he'd ever seen), and completely torn his shoulder(also worst doctor had seen and largest shoulder repair he'd ever done. said he would have been able to fix it were his delts not huge...yes, dad is jacked)......all from seperate accidents, all resulting in major surgeries. he's pretty ****ed now...couldnt ski this year.

both can **** you up if you do dumb ****.

    are you guys serious?

skiing and snowboarding aren't hard on the body at all you pussies

skiing/snowboard is only hard in the beginning when you first start to learn from all the falling + getting up from falling.

once you learn how to actually do it it's SO easy.

LMFAO at thinking skiing or snowboarding is hard on the body.

i think snowboarding is harder on the body when it comes to just average riding. in snowboarding every time you turn you gotta swing your lower body in a big range of motion, whereas skiing is just kinda shimmying your hips back and forth.

for example on the moguls, i watch skiiers bomb through moguls absorbing the whoops and turning their hips and ****, but if you take a snowboarder and tell him to try that it's like **** no, every single mogul i have to swing by entire body one way then instantly swing it back the other way

yeah its really only hard on your body when you wreck shop/garage sale, etc.

this doesnt mean you dont need stamina and quads of steel.

not that anyone skis moguls anymore but, moguls are not for snowboarders ***got. and yes, we get pissed when you slip down them sideways and **** them up.

You're an idiot. Did you see the falls the downhill skiers had to endure on the downhill event at the Olympics? I'd love to see you get tossed around like that at that high of speeds and act like its no big deal.

After watching the women get annihilated on the downhill ski course last night i'd say skiing is easily worse on your body. Not to mention even if they rode clean their damn skis were rattling all over the place , didnt look very nice on your knees

^ lol going 80-90 mph on downhill skis is gay?

OP should've been more specific then. I thought he's talking about leisurely boarding/skiing in the winter time.

obviously olympic level skiing/snowboarding would be a different story

Done both a bit. You mean fitness wise or chance of injury? Not sure about fitness wise but for me skiing had a higher chance of injury. Was always getting knees and ankles twisted, which is hard to do snowbaording.

both. Like, if you don't have any bad crashes, which one is just harder on the body in general, and then if you were to crash, which one is more damaging to your body? Also, to people saying you twist your ankles, don't your skis pop off on impact, which makes it hard to break stuff?
