What do you mean by "past rippetoe's?" Rippetoe's usually ends when your squat has stalled twice, and your deadlift once.
"Complexity for complexity's sake is dumb. Slow progress when fast is available is very poor decision making. Training indirectly with elaborate assistance exercises to raise your back squat is foolish if you can walk in the gym and add weight to your back squat."

When you get to the "intermediate" stage, it's time you figure out your own routine.

Don't get why you are judging whether someone is past a strength routine based on their weight?

    OP, post your lifting stats.

Because a beginner strength program should be building size as well.

He Bench Presses 170 and Deadlifts 150, apparently. He's not done.

It should, but its not the main purpose of the program, and there is no point in staying on the program if the main purpose isn't working for you anymore. He shouldn't stay on rippetoes to build mass if his strength isn't going up, that just seems a bit silly to me.

edit: ok, saw the lifting stats. Yeah he's not done.

    Stats: 6'4", 160 lbs

    Bench:
    170 lb (77.3 kg)
    Deadlift:
    150 lb (68.2 kg)

    No you're not.
One of the purposes of starting strength is to make your proportional, if you bench more than you deadlift, especcially at 6'4, you're not proportional.
