I use to think that - until I looked at the prices throughout the month and found that not true. =/
With the GNC card during the gold card week in the begining of the month - if you use a lot of supplements and don't mind buying bulk -- you can get a reasonable to okay deal. Not the best deal but an okay one. If you are going to shop at GNC I'd recommend splitting with someone else. The value is in bulk with the gold card -- their deals are usually buy one get one free or buy one get one half off + gold card cheaper price.
In any case they want to sell you two when you want just one. Now you have a 90 day supply and it cost you 45 bucks. Split that to 22.50 each person with a 45 day supply it is actually not that bad of a deal when it comes to protein shakes and junk.
I will say one think that annoyes me with GNC is their hot deals that are there -- the fine print is you can't use your gold card with the hot deals - the GNC employees won't say a damn thing.

i hardly ever buy anything from gnc unless i know my buddy is on shift, then i can load up. most of the time he'll hook me up with buy 1 take 2 free, sometimes 3. a few times a didnt even have to pay for anything at all. he loves working there but he hates his 'gnc is the best manager'. in the end we both are reaping the gnc bro discount benefits. beats their bogo 50% deal anyday.

I'd suggest asking your questions here, as opposed to asking a salesmen at GNC.
Also, you can buy pretty much anything online for less than the cost at GNC.
I'd personally suggest Optimum 100% Whey as others have, the chocolate is absolutely amazing. You mix it several ways, I prefer one scoop with 2 cups of milk and 5grams of Creatine mixed in. It tastes even better with an equal packet tossed in.
Drink that and eat a banana for a good preworkout or postworkout drink.

Shop around on this site. You can get 2lbs. of better stuff for under 20 bucks.
I go to GNC and shop the close dated/clearance product only. Some shops will allow you to use your gold card on clearance stuff so the savings are even better. Just ask before you buy. In my town there are 5 GNC's and 3 of them will honor gold cards on clearance. I can get tubs of protein for under 16 bucks if I shop smart. That is the only time I buy from them. There is a skinny man inside me screaming to get out, but I can usually shut him up with some bacon.

I used to work there. No use in arguing. I did the sign changes right before a gold card week at a corporate store.
Franchise stores do whatever they want, set whatever price they want and give whatever discount the want.
Corporate stores raise the prices of the popular items during gold card week. I remember clearly Black Powder going from 49.99 to 64.99 during Gold Card week. I know, because I did the sign changes myself.
The only time its worth shopping there is when you can find close dated items that are very very cheap.
Those are hit and miss sometimes.Krispy Kreme Krew Forever.
