    Heya all

Just been readig up on the GOMAD diet, 25lbs in 25 days from milk at eating every 3 hours?? is that for real? i could do the eating every 3 hours, but never taut to add that much milk to my diet, drink a litre of milk a day no bother nearly everyday as it is, cause i LOVE the stuff, if a gallon a day can do that, ill be doin it with a smile.
just wondering if any1s tryed it or if its just all hype

    Cheers

i'm sure it'll help you gain, but just realize 5lbs in a week is not all lean muscle mass.

Then why not just eat more food? Eat more brown rice, whole grain pasta, etc. That much milk intake can be really nasty on some people that don't realize they're a bit more lactose intolerant than they realize. 75% or so of the population is believed to be lactose intolerant to some degree and when you drink a gallon of milk you're asking to find out how much you are.

All you're gonna have to do after this is cut off all the fat you gained. If you gain 5 pounds in a month or 25 pounds in a month you'll have gained the same amount of muscle... you'll just have gained a crapload of extra pounds of fat above what you would have at 5 pounds.

Packing on the fat. You realize you can naturally gain maybe 2lbs of muscle a month right. You just gained 5lbs of fat.

If you do it all right you can gain 1 lb of lean mass a week. Now, most people are likely to be closer to 0.5 lbs a week/2 a month, but you sure as hell can gain more than 2 lbs of muscle a month.

5 pounds a week is sure to be 80% fat, if not more. I did a gallon of milk a day a couple years ago and it worked quite well while I was on starting strength. I was 6'00" and 168 pounds when I started, made it up to 193 but I was only gaining 1-2 pounds a week. Yeah, I tend to be an under-eater

1lb of lean mass a week? What kind of drugs involve this? Think about that for a second. Maybe as a new lifter yes, but a natural lifter who has been training for anything more than a couple months? No. If people could gain 1lb a week we would be adding 52lbs of lean mass a year. Not going to happen.

Yeah, GOMAD is for beginners to weightlifting only. People with noob gains.

I tried it back when I was doing SS, I drank a gallon a day, it was delicious but I put on a lot of fat. I would not recommend it.

    Noob gains for a year?

    What have you been smoking?

I should have been more specific. I may have mis-understood or mis-interpreted but I was speaking of noob gains, here. So yes, as you said, a new lifter. Or a 'novice', anyway

Was checking this out online, and most reports are getting around 3% body fat gains a month on that diet. I would suggest it for people who find they are hard gainers, and need to put on some weight very fast, but don't really care about fat gain. I would rather just up my calories and protein in-take with a bit more rolled oats, natty-pb, or something a bit cleaner. But for someone who just can't gain, this will work for sure, lol.
Try not to look back, try not to regret, just live life like it is the last day you will ever see....

A hard gainer is just someone who doesn't know how to add up the calories they eat and add more if they still aren't gaining.

You can add 300+ calories per shake using malto if you really need calories and it will cause a lot less gastric distress than GOMAD. And you can get malto for $1/lb if you know you'll be using a lot so it's damn cheap too.

Agreed for sure, lol. I could not do this at all and this just seems to be a lot of fat, there is no way I could do cardio or lift hard with a stomach full of sloshing milk bloating my stomach, lol.

Indeed. This is one of those diets that's about as retarded as the Soup or Water diets are for weight loss. Yeah... eating nothing but soup broth for 1 week straight is a GOOD IDEA... let me get right on that.

Neither could I. If you are dumb enough to drink a bunch of milk right before lifting that is your own fault.

But I do digest milk better than most people. I've always liked it and always drank a lot of it. I can have 1-1.5 gallons a day and it digests perfectly fine and doesn't bother me at all.

I don't do that anymore, I gained the weight I needed at the time.

Reminds me of Personal Fitness Tests for Army basic two weeks ago. A kid was doing the sit-ups portion, and I was holding his feet down, and all I heard was a sloshing sound....sure enough, on around the 1 1/2 mile mark of the 2 mile run, he just pukes all over the place. I was like....damn where did he go? But hey, if you feel the need to chug milk all day to gain weight....more power to yah, .

If it was skim milk then the fat content would be minimal.

I supplement my eating by drinking about 1/4th of a gallon of chocolate milk daily.

I monitor my calories to make sure I gain at about a rate of 1-2 lbs a week.

As a newbie, you can probably put on a healthy 30 pounds of muscle in a year.

I believe the studies done show trained individuals to have the ability to put on 24 lbs of muscle tissue in a year, correct?

Eat what you eat and supplement the rest with milk. It's actually a great bulking supplement.

Can anyone find those studies? I'm looking around for them...

    Gomad experiment

    Hey,

A month ago i opened a blog on wordpress. I then came here and posted some links so I would get more traffic and I feel it looked as thought I was spamming so I got kicked off this site. Last January I went through with the GOMAD diet and documented it VERY CAREFULLY. I have blood results, before and after pictures, weight updates, health information.... before going on the diet I searched high and low for more information but couldn't find as much as I wanted. My hopes while doing the diet were too give people more information. I TRULY feel if you read my blog you can make an informed decision on whether or not GOMAD is the right decision for you. I truly tried to make it unbiased. My first post up there was GOMAD but I have continued to make new posts. The site is finefitness.ca. You can click GOMAD on the side.

If you want a link directly to the GOMAD diet and you are not interested in reading anything else it is finefitness.ca/?cat=5

I truly hope this helps you
