    being sick sucks...

... fell ill over last weekend and this week has been painful. Bronchitis.

I worked out on Saturday, when I was only sniffing, and haven't gone to the gym since.

Only good thing is that I feel a hell of a lot better, although I still cough and have a stuffy nose... will hit the sack early tonight (as I did last night) and if I feel well enough, I'll work out tomorrow. I hate being away from the gym.

Tell me about it. I caught some plague at work and had to take 3 days off. For someone who just transferred in to a new group - calling in sick is bad form. But I sure as heck wasn't going to commute in and infect the whole group.

Oddly it doesn't seem to effect my lifting, other than I can't do any cardio.

Last time I got sick was right after thanksgiving. I missed a few days, but before I was 100%, I returned to lifting. It kept me sick a few days longer, but it was worth it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

This time, however, it just wrecked me. I was bedridden early this week and last night went to bed at 7PM. I finally feel decent.

I can't wait to hit the iron again.

Remember that training taxes your immune system and can hinder your getting over your sickness. At least take it easy and pay close attention to your nutrition. The weights will still be there when you get better.

Maybe that is why I have had the sniffles for a month... I thought it was allergies...

    Thumbs up

Feel much better. Nose still stuffed, and a leftover cough. But no more body aches and no more fatigue. The cough no longer hurts.

Back to the gym tomorrow. Final stretch of the Madcow 5x5 before I cut.

It will have been 10 days since my last workout. But tomorrow, I'm hitting my beloved iron with a vengeance!

    agreed

Had a cold a few weeks ago, thought it was about gone so went to the gym and wound up getting a sinus infection which put me out an additional 2-3 weeks. Good new is I can now lift more than I was before the sickness and am pushing PR's. Feels good!

I'm going through the same thing. I felt it last Thursday but still completed my workout, last one of the week (I do 6-7 workouts over 4-5 days, then 2-3 days off).

It's killing me not to hit the weights at the very least. Cardio can wait.

But, I remember last time I got sick I Waited it out and came back actually stronger than before. So sometimes a few days off is a good thing.

I'm sick now too. Work has been shut down all week and that's where I work out. I've been back lifting for 9 weeks after more than a year off and am trying to treat this as a deload week off. Must say though, it's hard to even eat while under the weather. I just hope it doesn't set me back much. Good luck to you too, it's a normal thing that we all have to go through...

if I only have a cough or runny nose...I normally dont take any time off. now if it gets worse, i will take 3-4 days off...and then go easy for a couple days....then hit it 100% the next week, sometimes even come back stronger.
I do not sugar coat things, but you got in the condition you're in by "sugar coating."
