Is there such thing as too much protein?

Hey I was wondering if taking in like 200+ grams of protein daily is bad on me cutting? It comes from lean meats and alot of tuna tho but will this still help me lose weight? I'm eating around 2000 when my maintenance is 2700 I'm 18 weight is 185 is it ok to eat this much protein if I'm trying to lose weight? I work out 5 days a week cardio 5 days a week also

It's quite ok, for 185 - depending on how fat you are - any daily protein intake up to 250-300 won't be anything to worry about, rather it will help you during a fat loss phase in keeping the muscle.

Protein only becomes a problem with your liver or such in much higher amounts.

Well i do know that NO CARBS is bad for cutting and if youre cutting, youre obviously reducing your calories....

all protein diet cutting just puts you in a keto-genic state causing proteins to be burned for fuels, it will just make it so youre muscle gets used up a lot easier...

on a cut, 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% healthy fats is the best bet.

Don't give out macros dude, that's not an idea to follow. Why ? Because it doesn't work for any calorie range.

With about 5-6 days / week of heavy training, my maintenance is around 3500 calories. Say I cut on 3000 calories. 50% protein is 375 grams of protein, which is quite a lot and not really needed, in this case that amount of protein being more than 2 grams / pound lean bodyweight.

This is especially true when giving out bulking diet "macros". I would probably bulk just above 4000, but a "hardgainer" that's tall enough and skinny would probably go above 5000 easily as many even smaller dudes do - successfuly.

There's nothing wrong with that intake of protein especially if you're spreading it out evenly throughout the day.
