I have a weak chest although it is pretty big compared to other people's chests. I believe it is mostly just mass or fat. I see people that bench more than me with skinnier arms and I am pretty proud of my triceps and they are pretty strong. Is it that my chest is weak or my triceps are just strong? Is it something to be proud of or something that is bad. I believe it is because I have long arms and for quite some time up until recently I started going only a little lower than 90 degrees on the elbows and before I would touch my chest. I always keep my middle fingers on the lines as well. Is it even possible to have JUST mass on the chest instead of fat because I will cut soon and it would be pretty awesome if I could keep my chest without as much fat. I heard that taking long rests between sets could be the cause of the mass because I used to be very lazy before, but I would do whatever I could to finish all the sets.

ur 5'8, ur arms cant be that long, ur 147lbs ur chest/tris cant be that big.
not sure what ur asking though.....rest periods between sets dont add mass within themselves......thats all i got.
edit-to emphasize chest, wide grip, tuck elbows on the way down, slight arch with shoulder blades squeezed together. u can also keep constant tension on the chest by not fully locking out.Last edited by _lightsout_; 01-15-2009 at 07:15 PM.

I had been doing 5x5 for the last like 8-10 months (on compoud exercises only), but now I just started doing 8 reps. My current chest/shoulder/triceps day workout is:
Chest:
Flat bench (DB or BB, depending on mood and to switch it up)
Incline bench (DB or BB, depending on mood and to switch it up)
Decline bench OR leaning dips (below parallel)
Incline dumbbell flies
Fly machine OR flat dumbbell flies
Crossover cables
all are 3 sets of 8 minimum but i'll usually go ahead and do a set or two more depending on my mood
I have pretty long arms for my size. I'm not saying I have a big chest, I'm comparing it to other people in my grade. I always use perfect form. Exactly what you've described there.Last edited by DaBombDiggity; 01-15-2009 at 07:23 PM.

i dont think arm degree makes much a difference in all seriousness..its gotta go up anyways whether its be more by your chest or tricep if your still second guess yourself you should seriously either get a spot from someone close to your weight/strength and if that still dosnt help and your breaks seem to be getting longer i'd suggest trying out a different maachine or using less weight bro
