    I find this rather interesting

I used to compete in Cowboy Action Shoots, but was forced to sell my guns to pay off medical bills about 10 years ago. I have been thinking of adding this equipment back to my collection.

I have been shopping around and have found some interesting things.

The difference in price between a .45 LC and a .357 mag revolver is about $200, with the .45 being the cheaper of the two; the difference in price between a .45 LC and a .357 Mag carbine is also about $200, with the .357 mag being the cheaper of the two.

It will cost about the same either way. I love the traditional .45 LC but am starting to lean towards the .357 mag for the flatter trajectory.

What are you guys thoughts on this?
Any workout you can walk away from is a good workout.

Yeah, go with the tradition. They make revolvers and carbines in .22 Hornet, but you wouldn't use that for Cowboy Action Shoots.

I won't be competing any more. I'm just looking for some "toys" that have self-defense and possible hunting applications.

Both would be adequet for deer out to 50-75 yards, but the .357 is flatter shooting.
The .45 is fairly gentle to shoot but has a little more uumph at close range, but the .357 has better penetration.

If I opt for the .357 then I also have the option of feeding it .38 special ammuntion.
It also open up the door for gettiing a snubbie for later CCW use. (I haven't found a .45 snubbie yet, but lots of .357/.38s around)

Plus, not every place carries .45LC ammo. .357 Mag is everywhere. Hell, If you aren't gonna compete, go for the MAGNUM!

Hence why I'm leaning towards the .357 myself.

No problem finding .45 LC out here in Idaho.

The biggest problem most peeps have with wounding game that I've seen is misjudging yardage, so if it's going to be used for hunting (or competitions) I always go with the flatter shooting round.
