    Box squat question - help?

I've been trying to incorporate these more into my routine to up my squat #'s. However I have a sort of weird problem. I can squat low and freely without any issues, but when I try to do box squats (even with a slightly lighter weight) my knees sort of turn inward as I'm getting back up, it's a little frustrating. Does anyone know what could fix this, or what might be causing it in the first place?

Good article on box squats, I think it's just a matter of getting used to not bouncing out of thr bottom, your starting from a dead stop so your incorporating your hips a lot more also keep your knees pointed out.

My guess, and I'm no real expert but...

It's probably just that you are trying to use your quads more as your posterior chain isn't man enough yet, which box squats would emphasize more.

I assume your normal stance isn't particularly wide?

Grab a video, that always helps.

I agree. Also, if you are a squatter who uses a lot of natural rebound it becomes very hard to control the moment when you hit the box which can literally shock your knees inward

I squat with both wide stance, and close stance. I suppose it could just be a lack of proper posterior chain power. I've watched a lot of videos on it, and my form is good other than that little issue.

Makes sense. I guess I should just keep trying, and maybe lower the weight a little.

Oh, I didn't doubt that your form was ok, it's probably just a muscular thing as you're not used to such emphasis on your ass and hams. It'll come up in no time

No I know, sorry - was just rambling a bit. My hammies are a weak point for me so I definitely have to work on that more.

keep box squatting focusing on driving the knees out, and also "band outs" would work well, IMO.
