Standing might actually be easier since , with heavy weights, your back might bend, letting you use some of your chest power. Not sure if that's "strict" or whatever, but that's just what i do sometimes
there is no "average" reallyLast edited by Uberwaffle; 02-05-2010 at 06:08 PM.

320x10 standing not locking out (i lean back, and use a back support, a belt, wrist wraps, and elbow sleeves)
and 350x4 seated shoulder press taking the bar to my chin (bottom of my arms to parallel) but the seat had a angle in it.
when i had 350x4 seated shoulder press like that, i could had like 285x9 military press (not locking out)

The 'average teen' doesn't even lift, I would be surprised to see how many could even put up 95.
oh and just to be a word nazi...seated military doesn't exist. it's called a military press because you stand straight up with feet together or almost together, like you would stand at attention in the army. If it's seated it's called a seated overhead press.Subscribe to my log and I'll return the favor!!

I only do a bit over 100lbs for 5 reps standing. 150lbs+ is in no way the average for teens. Maybe the average for those who have been lifting seriously for at least a year or two, but not the average teenager.
How much grass could an ass to grass squater squat if an ass to grass squater could squat grass?
