The average for a person who lifts should be around 160-180 (standing). Just my opinion.

    Dunno about seated though.

You can have more leg drive while doing seated as well. Making it easier

Standing might actually be easier since , with heavy weights, your back might bend, letting you use some of your chest power. Not sure if that's "strict" or whatever, but that's just what i do sometimes

    there is no "average" really

I can eak out maybe 125, but my overhead strict press is a weak point for me.

    I did 195 @ 175 lbs.

I think average is about 1x bodyweight. But if you are like 5'6" 180 or something... Obviously 1x bodyweight would be a joke.

Probably about 175. At the time I did 195x1, I did 80x4 with dumbells.

I only count it as a rep if it gets to your adams apple or lower on barbell (I always go to my chest personally), and it has to touch your shoulders on dumbell.

Did 185 standing @174 without training it, going for 215-225 in a week or 2 since I've been training it the last month.

Idk how much I do seated, I don't train it. Also there's no seated press thing at my gym.
Idk my maxes at this point, I'm just starting back.. current PRs
    Squat 375 3x1, 350x4
    Deadlift 505x1 , 500x6

Lmao this thread is a joke, look through the workout logs and see how many people are putting up even 135 on strict standing overhead press, and a large chunk of those lifters are a good bit stronger than the average teen.

320x10 standing not locking out (i lean back, and use a back support, a belt, wrist wraps, and elbow sleeves)

and 350x4 seated shoulder press taking the bar to my chin (bottom of my arms to parallel) but the seat had a angle in it.

when i had 350x4 seated shoulder press like that, i could had like 285x9 military press (not locking out)

The 'average teen' doesn't even lift, I would be surprised to see how many could even put up 95.

oh and just to be a word nazi...seated military doesn't exist. it's called a military press because you stand straight up with feet together or almost together, like you would stand at attention in the army. If it's seated it's called a seated overhead press.

I only do a bit over 100lbs for 5 reps standing. 150lbs+ is in no way the average for teens. Maybe the average for those who have been lifting seriously for at least a year or two, but not the average teenager.
How much grass could an ass to grass squater squat if an ass to grass squater could squat grass?

    Hmmm

I have always used dumbells, last week my max set was 60lbs x5

In the other hand my Overhead press was only 100lb (standing), mind you I did them after doing the dumbells and my shoulders were absolutely dead.

With the smiths machine I can do around 180lb for reps, but I guess everyone can...
