    Hearing Loss from Strenuous Lifting

Has anyone ever experienced loss of hearing (in one or both ears) from strenuous lifting? I have been lifting for a few years and never experienced this until last week. I was using No-Xplode and pushing myself really hard on incline press, and initially felt slightly lightheaded, and then a dull ring began in my right ear. Shortly after my hearing had diminished to about 75% of my hearing level on the opposite ear. I saw an Ear, Nose, Throat doctor the day after it happened and he said I had a minor 'perilymph fistula'. Google it if you are interested.

It looks like there is a good chance it will heal on its own in a few weeks - but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar, if it healed, and how long it took. I'm not supposed to workout for a few weeks which is brutal, but I would much rather have my full hearing back!

    Thanks

7 years ago I got a strong sun light hit in my eye. My eyes were blackened for a minute I opened my eyes and the world was darker. Its still same now , 1 second changed my whole life.

No Xplode has done some weird stuff to me as well...but never lost hearing. I have experienced tinnitus (ear ringing) at the gym after having my ear close to metal bar slamming stand/plate hitting metal/etc. Are you sure that didn't happen?

I know it wasn't caused by any loud noises. I remember it specifically occurring right after really straining out a last rep. My breathing was off, and I must have put so much pressure on my inner ears from holding my breath it messed something up. Hoping its not permanent.

Lesson learned: breath correctly when you lift!

My left ear used to get filled with air or something, Because whenever i joined my friend to go to planet fitness and we ran on the treadmills. My left ear would just feel weird, Like i lost some of the hearing ability but it was still there. It kind of freaks me out but it goes away in a few minutes. I've never really told anyone until now, Maybe i wasnt breathing correctly?
