Okay, so there's been 1,000 threads on here by people trying to save a buck and wondering which protein is the best for the least amount of money or whether Myofusion is really way more expensive than ON or whatever.
Each company's protien is different...tastes different, has different macros, is priced different, and uses a different sized scoop. Some people break things down into the price per serving, but the protein in each serving is different from brand to brand...some are as low as 18-20, and some as high as 60. So I thought the best way to break down cost effectiveness was to find out how many grams of protein per dollar of cost each brand offers. I did this with many of the leading brands and top sellers from BB.com, and hopefully it's helpful.
It breaks down like this...
Column 1 - brand name
Column 2 - grams of protein per tub (using 5 lbs. tubs for each brand, or the closest thing to it if the brand doesn't have exactly 5 lbs. tubs i.e. BSN)
Column 3 - price for said 5 lbs. tub
Column 4 - grams of protein per dollar spent
ON 100% Whey 1848g $42.99 43g/$1
ON Nitro-Core 1344g $43.99 31g/$1
ON Pro Complex 1680g $56.95 29g/$1
ON Hydro-Whey 1200g $54.99 22g/$1
BSN Syntha-6 1144g $39.99 29g/$1
Gaspari Myofusion 1575g $38.99 40g/$1
Cytosport Muscle Milk 1024g $49.95 21g/$1
Cytosport Monster Milk 1200g $64.99 18g/$1
MuscleTech Nitro-Tech 1400g $49.95 28g/$1
Dymatize Gourmet Protein 1752g $32.98 53g/$1
All The Whey Protein Blend 1760g $34.99 50g/$1
XF UP Whey 1633g $44.99 36g/$1
Universal Ultra Whey Pro 1694g $38.99 43g/$1
LG Sciences Lipotropic 2291g $29.99 76g/$1
I bolded the Top 6...I know this doesn't account for whether you want more isolate or concentrate or if you want a pure whey product or a blend, or if you want creatine in your whey, or flavor, or whatever else...but based purely on price of a 5 lbs. (give or take) tub of protein, those were the Top 6.
I was really surprised that despite the hate for ON Hydro-Whey and people complaining about its price, it's still cheaper than Muscle Milk which people buy left and right...

I have had many proteins
Best bang for your buck is a protein product that you can sip and like/love the taste.
Good flavoring = consistent on keeping your protein intake for goals
My vote goes to
-Ultra Peptide Whey from Xtreme Formulations
-Myofusion from Gaspari Nutrition
Both excellent tasting proteins, but different flavoring for variety.

Probably the best protein for the least amount of money would be an average steak on the charcoal grill in the backyard. That's REAL time-released protein.
Muscle Milk makes me sick because of all the MCTs that don't need to be in it. Apparently, adding medium chain triglyceride fats to a protein powder makes the manufacturing process pretty expensive. John Parillo is rolling in his grave--the frickin' guy ain't even dead yet!
I like Isopure and Supro protein, but I don't use them anymore.
In 2000, I experimented with a low-dalton hydrolyzed protein. I wasn't impressed.
From my experience, a trainee doesn't need a protein powder if they're eating enough good food. With a beanpole hardgainer, I usually recommend a weight gainer with a decent amount of protein in it, or drinking a lot of extra milk or soy milk daily.
Oh, and let's not kid ourselves, nearly all protein powders make you gassy.
I don't know about you, but most chicks don't like a guy who smells like a wet dog stuck in a methane factory.

i think you should give a tub of myofusion a try --- sounds like you got fed up with all the crappy proteins from yesterday, and have missed out on the significant increase in digestion, mixabilty, taste and overall quality that has come to the market in the last few years.
myofusion is still an amazing deal when you think of the formula and taste --- its the only protein i use and i couldnt be more satisfied
