Question why do i feel more awake after 5-6 hours of sleep instead of 8-9

if i sleep like 5-6 hours i wake up feeling ****ing awesome and refreshed. i feel so alert and not tired at all.

but if i sleep 8-9 hours i wake up feeling ****ty, don't even wanna get out of bed.

why is this? should i just start sleeping 5-6 hrs or is my body stil benefiting from 8-9 hrs of sleep even if i dont feel it

my perfect day off sleep is friday night in to sat. Friday night i sleep like you 5-6 hours, then do my cardio, eat twice, and take an 1-2 nap. after nap eat and go back to gym for weights. I feel super full and hard (for me anyway lol ) and hammer the weights. I think 6 hours is perfect for back to back hours of sleep, but that nap is awesome too.

theres 3 different sleep phases, the first one is when your falling asleep(its about 5-15 minuts long)

the 2nd phase is 1-2 hours of light sleep

the 3rd is 2-3 hours of heavy sleep.

thats only 5 hours that doesnt make since? the process restarts from step 2 throughout the night. so if u wake up on phase 3 your gonna feel like crap
    Misc provides me with lulz.

are you sure it restarts after phase 3? i remember in pysch class my professor was saying there was 4 stages of deep REM that last throughout the night.

either way, would my body benefit (for jaxx3d fibraz) from sleeping only the 5-6 or the 8-9

im not 100% sure but i do know that there is a deep sleep and a light sleep, and you go in and out of them all night, so if u woke up during deep sleep u feel like crap.

deep sleep is when your muscles actually rebuild. so sleep is important for a body builder

Exactly. You have to wake up at the end of the cycle...it's kind of like a sleep sweet spot.

I'm not sure but I'm the complete opposite. If I don't get like 8 hours I feel tired as shizzit about halfway through the day unless I'm busy as hell doing something. I've always been a 2nd shift worker though, usually getting off at 11-12pm.

I hate going to sleep having to wake up at a certain time. It seems much better to sleep until my body says "get up".....of course, I could just be lazy.

So anybody know why this is? Im the same also.

If I sleep in past 8-9 Hours I feel like crap in the morning and most of the day. Then I start to feel wide awake past about 5PM. If I wake up after 5-6 hours I feel the exact opposite. Awake all morning and most of the day, then gradually feel more tired through the night (Normal)?

Weekday, weeknight, doesn't matter for me, 8 hours is what I need to wake up at least semi-refreshed and make it through the day.

close. there are 5 stages of sleep. the 5th is REM. as the night goes on you spend more and more time in REM sleep so your chances of waking up in REM are higher. if you go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time everyday, your body will adjust so you wake up in stage one. but if you go to bed at different times throughout the week your body will never get into a rhythm.

depends on your age. the younger you are the more sleep you need. babies need up to 18hrs of sleep. i think teenagers need around 10. adults 7-8.
