I guess this thread might be in the wrong spot...also I live in Australia, so there might be laws that are different to the US.
I feel there is a gap in the current supplement market that I can fill (well at least in my own country!).
I found this article:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/startyourownline.htm
But it wasn?t really what I was looking for.
Does anyone have any start-up guides, or information on creating your own supplement company?
Any Australians that have inside knowledge?
Laws, Appropriate governing body's that I need to go through (TGA, food standards etc)
I have emailed a couple Australian companies...I will see how that goes.
I dont want to tread on anyones toes!

Not that I'm very enlightened on this subject, but it seems that you would have to first work for a company, learn the ropes, then move your way up until you're ready to start your own company.

......Your going about this all wrong.
First off you have to have something unique about your products you intend to create/make.
Second off you need to know how to create formulation thats why most of the company heads are chemist or doctors....or they are rich enough to hire such people.
Third you need a business plan, how much are the supplies going to cost, the marketing of the product, who you going to sell it too, where are you going to get such funds, do you need licenses to create such a product? Where are you going to make it, whats it going to cost the consumer......ETC
You clearly are no where near ready to think about starting such a company, do what one before said. Get hired by a supplement company learn the know how than go out on your own.
The first sign of how not ready you are is starting a post on the BB forums.-HitTheRack.net-

There are many reps that are from supplement companies that post on this forum, I was hoping for them to chime in.
I am at about step 1 of a hundred. I am glad you are very supportive of people!
I got the idea when I found a company that manufactures custom mixes of supplements for personal use. They now have a manufacturing branch which is intended to make bulk retail products, which you can brand and sell
They have a minimum purchase which will be well within my means.
If I choose to go the bigger route:
Once I outline the products I wish to make, I will write up a business plan. This business plan will be submitted to a website where projects are funded by various people. They give you a grant to start your business and you pay a certain percentage back of your profit until it is all payed back.Last edited by endpoint; 02-01-2010 at 05:46 PM.
