Best research supplements for pre workout ?

I'm not using any pre workout, I've read that it's recommend to do it yourself, what are the best supplements ? I know that beta alanine is good but what else? If you would make the perfect pre workout with all the benefits for body and mind, what would it be?

For some reason there seems to be a common misconception that beta alanine has acute benefits but the timing of when you take it doesn't matter and it won't help more taken before as opposed to after. In regards to your question there aren't too many supplements that have a lot of research showing benefits for lifting weights the few that do include caffeine, citrulline, betaine anhydrous and nitrates
