    my doorframe seems weak, can i get a pullup bar?

    when i say weak, i don't mean that it comes loose when i put light pressure onto it. when i hang myself with just fingers, the door frame seems to move just a bit. i guess i should just say, it looks and does perfect job as a door frame (?) unless i try to get on it. i live in an apartment and things around definitely aren't made with the finest materials.

    i've heard that pullup bar somehow doesn't put much pressure on the door frame itself, but just how much pressure?? is it a SIGNIFICANT difference from if i were to just do pull up with fingers?

    The Iron Gym or similar pull up bars don't hang you from the top of the door frame. They are cantilevered and put the pressure on the wall above the frame and below on the door edges. Google cantilever and learn.

    so is the conclusion that pullup bars work regardless of strength of the top door frame?
    i looked at the pictures and tried to think about my physics logic but maybe i'm not smart enough lol or i just couldn't get the visualization in the picture. anyways, catilever thing is pretty cool.

    Here's a picture of what Yankee is talking about;

    Yes the difference between the force on the top of the frame doing with your fingers and with one of these is significantly less. Not 0, but significantly less.

    Will your door frame hold up to it? No idea. Try it, they aren't expensive you can always take it back and glue the top of the doorframe back on.

    Get either an Iron Gym, which as said above does not put stress on your frame - or get one of the pull up bars that is basically crammed in between the 2 sides of the door. Spaulding makes one I believe and my friend has it - works fine.
