Hopefully I post this in the right spot....
Back story....Over the past few months I've been experiencing excruciating stabbing pain in my right breast. I went to have it checked and my doctor found a lump. I was told to wait 2 months to see if it was hormone / period related or if my body would heal itself.....it didn't. I went back, same lump was there and more pain developed. I went to have an ultrasound done and they couldn't find a lump BUT they said I have alot of very dense breast tissue...which is probably why they couldn't see anything.
My doctor told me to take 1400ui's of vitamin E a day to help "turn off" whatever is going on for 2 months and strictly said NO caffeine (no tea, coffee, nothing). She also asked about my diet, health etc. She knew that I was training, eating right, good diet but then she asked about my caffeine intake. She said that dense tissue is not hereditary but it develops over time which could be caused by a number of things. Apparently "one" of the possibilities of the reason why I have developed it is because of caffeine (other reasons could be birth control, estrogen, etc). Dense tissue is very bad so of course I am freaked out, bad tissue and lump...oh joy
I realized that I was taking No-Explode for months and of course that's pure caffeine (I am not stating No-explode did this or anything of the sort). I was curious if anyone has experienced this or knows something related to this topic. Are their chemicals or nutrients in caffeine related drinks that could cause dense tissue?
Right now I just have to wait and see what the diagnosis is and may need to see a general surgeon but i figured I would come here and ask....plus may ease my mind
Thanks!!

I have dense breast tissue and was told like you, to avoid caffeine and to increase vitamin E. I was told that I have calcification and every time I get a mamogram it has to be a more detailed one and they compare it to the last one.
I don't worry about it anymore. It's not cancer, so I don't worry. If I were you, I wouldn't worry."He Hath Made Everything Beautiful in His Time"

I was diagnosed with fibroid cysts/dense breast tissue about ten years ago. My experience was similar to your's in that I had terrible pain, and I was SO scared of what that meant.
My doc also put me on vit. E, and told me to LIMIT caffiene. I have never cut caffiene out completely (I don't know what I'd do with my morning coffee!!), and I have stayed 0on the vit E on a pretty regular basis over the years. It all works.....I know when I am consuming too much caffiene and I cut back and all is good. So you will figure out how to manage it all.
Two final comments.....first, my doc recommended annual mammograms sooner than the recommended age, because with fibroid cysts, she was concerned that a "real" lump could be overlooked in self exames. Secondly, one of the points she made to me is that I will likely never suffer from "saggy breasts" because of the tissue density, so enjoy it!! haha!"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Women have dense breasts until after menopause. What you can suffer from is benign fibrocystic breast disease, which is very, very common. Limiting caffeine can definitely reduce symptoms but it won't eliminate them. Lots of us have lumpy breasts that get extra tender spots with our cycles.
Do not let anyone cut on you. Demand a MRI instead. Odds are you shouldn't have to have anything done but if some doc gets aggressive, get an MRI.

same here
This same thing happened to me so I was glad to see your post. I was taking hemo rage for about a month and started noticing the same syptoms I was told the same thing as you. It is super hard to get motivated to do a full on workout with out some type of preloader especially if you are used to allot of caffenine. Have you found anything to replace yours with that doesnt cause breast pain and dense tissue. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Hopefully I post this in the right spot....

I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast condition about 2 years ago. This was done after I found several lumps which in turn led to a number of mammograms, ultrasounds and a physical exam by a surgeon. Upon initial diagnosis my surgeon recommended I eliminate caffeine from my diet to see if it helped with the symptoms. The look of horror on my face led him to revise his recommendation to cutting back to one cup of coffee in the morning. I see him every 3 months to basically monitor the situation because it is so difficult to differentiate changes in breast tissue when you have this condition (plus if I develop painful cysts he'll aspirate them which immediately reliefs the pain). After of year of limiting caffeine, I didn't really see that anything had improved or worsened. Talked to my doctor again and he said it was fine to go back to my usual coffee intake. That said, I wouldn't, with this condition, load up on any caffeine heavy supplements. But moderate caffeine intake hasn't been a problem for me. It is worth at least trying to reduce or eliminate caffeine though since it does seem to help some women and you won't know if you are one of them unless you try.

soy may also be a culprit
I am experiencing the same exact issue as mentioned in the first post, dense breast tissue and pain. The specialist I saw said the same things about limiting caffeine and taking vitamin E. Another thing she brought up, that I haven't seen mentioned here yet, is soy. Soy can cause an increase in estrogen in the body, hence the breast pain. I didn't think I was really eating anything with soy in it but I decided to check some labels anyway. It turned out that several of the protein bars and shakes I was eating had soy or a soy derivative as the first ingredient. Over the last few weeks I have significantly cut these products out of my diet and the pain has reduced greatly. Perhaps this could help for you as well.

I have fibrocystic breast disease as well. I have had several breast lumps, some have come and gone, some can be felt but do not register during an ultrasound. I had one extremely large benign tumor that I recently had surgery to remove as it just kept growing larger - over 1 1/2 inches in diameter!). My doctor did not say anything about caffeine, yet through my personal research I found that although it is genetic, caffeine levels and use of parabens can worsen the condition. I still drink my green tea daily... Good luck!

I was experiencing a painful lump in one of my breasts every month, like clockwork, coming up to my period.
Cut down my caffeine intake drastically (now have 1 cup of coffee a day instead of 3) and the lump has disappeared.
I'm a firm believer in the correlation between excess caffeine and a whole host of female problems. You're not alone, OP, and try not to worry
