Read /JV/ and Alpha Zulu's logs, they have both followed it extensively and done very well with it.
They are also both very good reads and full of wholesome informationy goodness.Koyongi: I am going to accomplish this by following a haphazard training system, and forging elite fitness.

I've already written quite a bit about the program elsewhere, so I'll keep my response on the topic of the book.
There are some introductory chapters selling the concept of strength training to beginners, but the majority of the book describes the program, which includes the foam rolling and mobility warmups, the structure of the program, and all the exercises. It expects some knowledge of weight training since the descriptions of the exercises are fairly brief, though there are a lot of pictures. There's also a chapter on nutrition so it's pretty well-rounded. Depending on your experience, you could learn about some new exercises or pick up some ideas for programming your own stuff, but it's not like Starting Strength where you can learn so much technical information from the squat, bench press, and deadlift chapters alone.
If you think you might give the program a shot, definitely pick it up. Well worth the price if you ask me.PL Journal:

thanks for the response
I decided on starting 5/3/1, but then came across this.
From the reviews it sounds fantastic, but im not sure what the training philosophy is really about.
Im gonna have to go through your thread more to figure it out.
But in regards to the mobility and warmup, how similar is it to "Inside Out" and "Magnificent Mobility"?
If i have those two products, would it be worth my time to get this book?
thanks againGoodbye fried rice, hello fried chicken!

response..
Hey man, I have much experience with the program attached to the book.. I am half way through, the SECOND time around. That's just how much i enjoyed it. It's really great. don't go for body building style workout. This workout is for strength and is more ideal in the real world.. "be strong, not big just to look strong" "fear prevents us from moving forward" If you want to move forward in your physical shape and fitness this is the best strength and conditioning workout you could do it with. After you are finished you will have the knowledge on how to create your own program. After I created my own, it just looked like phase 2, and phase 3. These are my favorite phases. I skip 1 and 4. But that said.. every now and then I go to Phase 4 to get great cut, definition and up my strength a hell of a lot. I highly recommend this book. It took me from 164lbs to 190 lbs.. quite some results for being 5'11 and the pussy out of all your buddies.

ive done the whole 4 month cycle a few times. ive tried creating my own plan but it's never as awesome as this. when you get done with this program you have and incredible sense of strength, balance, flexibility, and posture. my back no longer hurts and i dont walk around with that hunched over rounded shoulder and lordosis posture.
not sure why you'd get the book if you're not going to follow the routine, magnificent mobility is basically 1/3 of this book. the strength part of the book is similar to westside barbell, but i think eric does a great job of programming it out for you.
eric's approach to things make sense and i've seen the results, he also practices everything he preaches which is why his lifts are at elite level.
