MMA - Contact lenses
Chaps - quick question for those of you who actually do MMA please?
A mate of mine wants to join an MMA gym and train - he hasnt decided yet whether he would actually fight, but he would need to wear contact lenses due to being short sighted.
Anyone know the policy of places on this?
thanks.

It's fine I have horrible eyes I train, spar and have fought in them, sometimes it gets knocked out.
Idk it's def. not a reason to not train or fight because you have contacts anyone who says they can't train or fight cause contacts is just looking for an excuse not to train or fight.

At my old gym a guy had a contact fall out while rolling, he put it back in his eye and got a giant sore there for a couple weeks.
Ever since I've gone semi-blind while on the mats.

I've rolled for about 6 months with contacts in, I've only lost one.

My contacts pop out from time to time…I’ve asked an eye doctor if there was anything I could do or if there were (I know it’s stupid) “athletic” contacts…
Really, you’re choice is to let them pop out from time to time…or don’t wear them. I personally can not see squat unless I have them on, so I put up with it.
Also - you may want to either delete this thread or have one of the mods move it....this section is really for training routines or journals.....not for questions like this.
take care

I've worn contacts the entire time I've trained in Muay Thai and BJJ...never had a problem with them falling out or getting lodged in the back of my eye socket just from regular training; except when my eyes get really dry or when I rub my eyes a lot from sweat getting in them...
I suggest you keep a bottle of eye drops handy to keep your eyeball lubricated and that should help prevent them from falling out...put a couple drops in before and after training and definitely put some in whenever you get a drink or take a break during training...
Hope that helps...

-3.5 in both eyes and I train and fight without my contacts.
I am pretty much blind and have to scoot in really close when watching new technique.
I used to have my contacts knocked out all of the time while rolling and sparring.
I will get lasik one day.
