You're a liar, Steve Reeves = 1940's, Reg Park competed against him in the 40's too.
You know what made Steve Reeves, Reg Park, George Eifferman, Clance Ross, Alan Stephan (and some others) look better ? Aesthetics, those from 1920's were mostly concerned about strength, but you can't say that Eugen Sandow looked bad and he was active way before those, and you forgot to mention him just to make your point valid.
Oh, what made bodybuilders since mid 60's, 70's look so much better than those in 40's ? You all know it.
And why did you start a new thread to make your point of view "stand out" ? Because you can't prove your opinion versus Casey Butt's arguments, and people who read the thread about the Golden Era know it.

Some of you say that today we have more knowledge than those from the 40's ? That is right, but it's fake knowledge. We use the "same" routine Arnold used and why we never saw a new "Arnold" with such higher technology of products, intelligently designed routines and everything ? Because no one trains like him, we don't really have a clue about how he trained, and it's not the way he did in Pumping Iron where they all used more weights to show off and make normal skinny people feel even more weak just by watching them doing it.
People like Steve Reeves knew how to eat, train, rest and enjoy life. Not being slaughtered in the gym and never getting the results back. So steroids made him, huh ? So it should be easy to be like him using gear, then show me a new Steve Reeves, a new Alan Stephan, there are none! Because everybody wants to be freaky like those of today (which I like too but certainly do not appreciate in an esthetical way).
And then you believe Weider principles, that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, Weiders didn't invent anything. You should read what Serge Nubret said in his first thread, that the Weiders publicated the "Serge Nubret Chest routine" in a magazine and Serge himself said he never trained that way it was pure commercial BS and you believe what you see in magazines but not your inner instinct, that's why it's so hard to build a good body naturally.
I'm 96kg now, I had 98kg in May-June, natural (again I don't have anything against people using gear, it's their own choice, and I'm not competing so no need for it, plus I don't have a clue about how to use all that stuff), and I know I can get to 102-104kg (about 230lbs) at less than 10% BF, but it takes time and ... you gotta believe in yourself.
Why would the factor limit be 100kg for a mid sized man (in height) ? Because someone said it and that he had to use anabolics to get past over 100kg (220lbs) ? Who says that YOU don't have more hormone output in your body than that guy and that you can't reach 110kg of solid muscles ?
If I can attain 105kg maximum and 10years later I still can't improve, I'm not going to say : that's the limit of the human being, you need steroids to get more muscles, everyone that has more than my natural limit (105kg) is using gear then! That's not true, some people have even higher limits than me an we will never know what is the highest limit ever in the human body because no one wants to push it to the max!

we also live a good 35 years longer than our 1920's brothers.
someone with normal genetics could eat rest train and go back in time and be the greatest of all time Naturally... we have just developed training that farI wish it lasted, forever.

The bodybuilders from the 1920's had different goals and ideals of what the perfect physique was.
Like someone said, most of the bb'ers from way back when were also strength athletes, who primarily performed feats of strength; their physiques were just a result of strength training.
In my opinion, the BB'ers of the 50's were the first to train specifically for the purposes of attaining a certain physiqueLast edited by floods; 01-26-2010 at 07:47 PM. Reason: asd
